Justice Dept drops probe of ex-FBI official McCabe, a top Trump target

But by that kind of logic, if someone isn't specifically excluded from an investigation, then it's legitimate to raise the possibility that he or she might be in the future? In that case, who isn't a potential target for an investigation? Given that McCabe was the target of a grand jury investigation which failed to return an indictment, and that 2 exhaustive investigations have already been conducted, I'd say the odds of him being indicted are lower than, say, yours or mine.

It certainly is crazy kind of logic. Those cleared will be guilty of something. Those proven guilty should not have been.

I think you just won the prize for the smartest comment on the bizarro world logic of Trump's supporters.

I wonder if Julian Assange's lawyers will use Trump & his lackeys' interference in the US justice system as even more proof that he won't get a fair trial in the US?

Once upon a time the US had a first-world Federal justice system (especially for high-profile cases), but not now.

The damage this a-hole of a president had done to the country will take years , if ever to repair. and what, what did we get in return? It would not be so bad if we spend a lot of political moral and financial capital but solved some social problems, but what have got so far,  Did we solve the Immigration problem? is Healthcare better , more affordable with more people insured? is deficit spending down,  the debt reduced? the world a safer place? trade balance with China improved?  what did we get other than division, confusion, and drama?

Russian collusion?  Not guilty.  A fabrication soon to be exposed in full.

Obstruction?  Not guilty.  Also soon to be exposed (if the FBI knew in Jan. 2017 that there was no Russian collusion why did they renew two FISAs and why did they initiate the Mueller investigation?

Impeachment?  Not guilty.  I believe this will be another fraud upon the American people that will come to light and the perps will pay dearly.

By all means, continue to keep repeating the falsity that Barr is a stooge for Trump.  LOL

Odd you should mention the left making false claims, given Trump and Barr’s claims wrt to McCabe now being demonstrated as false (or as I like to say, ‘hogwash’).

However 1 point for your ‘Projection’.

You mean like Muller couldn't?  or Senate couldn't?  that kind of thing?  DOJ has very tight rules and because they can't prosecute does not mean he's an angel - he was FIRED.

And the Constitution has that thing about requiring a ruling from a Grand Jury -

The DoJ could not convince a Grand Jury of the merits of their allegations against McCabe.

As for being fired, it’s what Trump does to people who refuse to conspire with him in his crimes.

The wheels of justice grind slowly and fine. McCabe isn't out of the woods yet. These Deep State players who attempted the soft coup are going down. Just not as fast as we'd like maybe! ????

MAGA

I guess if Trump gets away with giving direct orders to the DoJ you might be right.

I don’t ever expect you or anyone of Trump’s apologists to have any problem with the President dictating ‘justice’.

Clinton, Comey, McCabe, Smollett. There is just no way on earth these people can be allowed to roam free after the appalling crimes they committed. Letting these people mock and laugh at the justice system and American people is somewhat souring Trumps monumental achievements since he took the helm.

Not to mention Epstein.???? But nothing to see here folks, business as usual, move along...????

Indeed, he and his family got richer and richer and america poorer and poorer.... Quite an achievement!

Do you understand that William Barr was the Attorney General when Epstein died? And that this was his second round as AG? Yet somehow despite his familiarity with the office, he failed to protect Epstein. So naturally whose fault it Epstein's death? The Deep State.

do you have any quarrel with the legal proposition I just put forth, that is, receiving a non prosecution letter as to a specific matter under investigation does not preclude any other prosecution?

Absolutely not... and I thought I made that quite clear by saying;

Not to mention that the shameful deal with Epstein has been made by a Republican prosecutor in  Republican state under a Republican POTUS. Prosecutor later nominated by Trump in his administration. Lol.

Jane Doe anyone?

Having played a part in Russia’s interference in Trump’s election Assange ought to try to arrive in the US before Trump is removed from office and arrested.

Yes I do.

So a non prosecution letter relating to a specific matter is issued but we should non of us regard that as defense against any random accusation made on this forum, a tweet, by a rightwing mouth piece or seen in some tea leafs.

Tge argument you make is as credible as the assertion that Manafort would not do a day in prison.

Snide post

Having played a much bigger part in exposing the extent of civilian deaths in Iraq & Afghanistan, The US - in particular Clinton - has been after him for years before Trump. Plus I don't see any abatement in the persecution of Chelsea Manning, also started before Trump.

It's a pity that your inability to see past your support for Clinton blinds you to your hatred of Assange. Trump is not likely to pardon Assange, quite the opposite.

‘It's a pity that your inability to see past your support for Clinton.’

I have a challenge for you:

Produce evidence of my support for Clinton, or retract your pathetic post.

I'll retract nothing. Your hatred for Assange because he retaliated against Clinton for her pursuit of him for releasing facts that the US didn't want known is enough.

Why do you presume assange is hated because of clinton?

You are correct, I despise Assange and will toast his misery the day he’s thrown into a Federal prison.

But my loathing of that man has absolutely nothing to do with Clinton.

Away with you and your baseless accusations.

I will offer you a deal. You retract your baseless accusation that Trump is in any way likely to give Assange suppport should he be extradited to the US and I will retract my 'baseless' accusation that Clinton losing to Trump has affected your opinion.

OK?

What like I should retract my comments in exchange for you withdrawing your off topic baseless attacks.

Away with your horse trading nonsense.

A pattern is emerging:

Trump rants on Twitter and accuses somebody who has told the truth and/or otherwise exposed/stopped one of his criminal conspiracies.

Billy Barr announces an investigation and shortly afterwards declares indictments are coming. Some time after the noise has died down the DoJ drop the investigation and Billy Barr suggests other investigations are continuing.

Who I wonder is this charade meant to fool or placate?
