Ah, don't jump to conclusions because it only makes you appear foolish.... The only 'border crossing' that I've done is when I lived in Phuket and I did Ranong- Kauntuang boat crossing every month when I took toys to the kids in the orphanage in Kawtaung. So I was stamped out and in at Ranong on the same day, but my visa did not require me to do a border crossing. After that, I had a 5-year Elite visa.... Since those days, I've mostly used Thailand as a 'base' between my teaching work in Myanmar, entering perhaps 2 times/year by air from Yangon. But that also got more difficult, so I started to use Siem Reap as my base, since the Cambodian immigration were fine to grant me an annual ER retirement visa to come and go as I please, (and spending my money there..) Now I've stopped teaching in Myanmar. From my other threads, you'll learn that I don't yet have 800k savings because I used a lot of my monthly income to support about the educational needs of 15 orphanages in Myanmar. I don't regret using my money for that purpose :) I'm in Thailand now, just extended my 60-day visa on arrival by 30 days. The local immigration department didn't really want to extend it by 30 days - they said that I had transited from Don Muang to Swampy too many times! (ERr.... how else can you travel between Yangon and Siem Reap? There is no direct flight...). So it's really much easier for me to stay in Cambodia, but I have family in Thailand, speak Thai very well blah blah blah. I plan to apply for a DTV in a few months from now.
