Interior ministry issues clarification on "cuddly toy claw machines" ban

Thailand's interior ministry has contacted provincial authorities to offer guidance on which cuddly toy claw machines are good, and which ones are bad.

 

Following a meeting last week when a large number of people got together to discuss the issue the ministry has clarified what is and what is not allowed.

 

OK are machines that give something for your money every time.

 

Not OK are machines that are just a gamble and in which the player may not get a prize.

 

The former can be allowed to stay while any operators of the latter face removal of their machines and arrest.

 

Thai media last week reported there are upwards of 1,500 illegal machines nationwide with many housed in entertainment areas in shopping centers.

 

Anti gambling groups and people worried about the welfare of children and young people have repeatedly called for bans.

If the player "loses" the machine awards him with a 1THB (or 1 Satang?) voucher and thus the machine is legal? Sounds like a typical Thai government solution.

I think they should keep those machines. Then kids have the opportunity to learn early that it does not make much sense to put a lot of 10B coins in a machine which mostly gives out nothing.

Kids/people should learn that principle as soon as possible.

And it's a lot better to waste 100B on not received toys than thousands of THB on lottery, etc.

I'm sure following the PMs statement that Animal Farm was a good book, they use the following rule:

Two claws bad, four claws good.

I know whats legal. If the owner has connection then his machines can be used.

I suspect the formula is more along the lines of; "ones sold by this company are OK, others not OK." Who is the owner or director of the OK company could lead to the decision making of this edict.

Funny, how in China they are legal. 

Road carnage; unimportant

Spread of STD's; unimportant'

Underage pregnancy; unimportant

Lack of jobs for young people; unimportant

Amusement arcade game; a national crisis

Why don't they set maximums difficulty standards instead?  What a mind numbing waste of time.

These cuddly toy machines are the very worst of the worst.  So many lives destroyed.  Thankfully, we will no longer have to be pained by the familiar shopping mall sight of rows desperate men and women spending hour after hour chained to the claw.  So many pay checks frittered away, children left waiting in cars, destroyed marriages etc.  All in the forlorn hope of catching that one big pink fluffy teddy bear.

Our fearless leaders stamping our corruption and evil where ever they see it.....I feel safer now.....
