Went to Suan plu yesterday to do my yearly extension based on marriage.

Very busy, waited nearly three hours in the queue (holiday today).

Had all the required paperwork. I made the application based on the 400K rule (grandfathered). I was aware, as of two months ago, that the 400K was supposed to be parked for three months, so I didn't meet the qualification. This was pointed out (politely) straight away. (nothing was said about income at all). I pointed out that I was not aware of the 3 month regulation. The officer asked to look at my bank book. My bank book fills up every six months because I run some business (cash) accounts from it. There had been several mil. baht pass through it in the last 6 months. The officer handed it back & said that would be fine for this year but next year make sure 400K was in for three months or apply by the income rule. I was then referred to the superviser who igned & OK'd it all.

However, (Lopburi3 & other hardworking TV VISA advisers might be interested in this) my letter of 400K from the bank had the wrong date printed on. The supervisor was addamant that I get a new letter with the correct date on it. This means going back to my local branch & getting a new letter printed. She wanted the letter before accepting the application. This means I have to return on Monday the 9th April. My current visa expires today 6th April. I pointed this out, & the supervisor said that since immigration was closed on the 6/04 I legally had until the next working day (9/04) to appear ar immigration without fear of being fined or arrested.

Is this law or the officer just showing her personal patch of leeway? As far as I understand, I will actually be in the country illegally for 2 days, on the personal word of 2 senior staff at immigration.

Cheers,

Soundman.

It seems to be policy if not law. If immigration is closed you have until the next workday to present yourself. Might have a hard time explaining it to a non immigration police officer however.

What was wrong with the bank letter date? Was not the same as bank book last entry? More than a few days old? Or did they insist that it be the same day you apply?

At any rate sounds like you are going to be fine.

The date on the passbook was 3/4/50.

The date on the letter was 3/3/50.

The two amounts were identical to the satang. The supervisor was really polite, she wasn't looking at me like I might be pulling a shifty.

An honest mistake, & i even had the bank manager on the phone with the immigration supervisor, but they seem like, as far as anything on paper is concerned, that the immi. officers really want to dot their i's & cross there t's.

Cheers,

Soundman.

Bank dated the letter wrong - next time you will give to the wife to make sure it is right I bet. :D

:o:D

She was the one that picked it up!!! I didn't even go to the bank... Just called the bank mgr on the phone and asked him to print it with the current days balance. He has a proforma letter system set up on his computer & obviously forgot to change the date at the start of the month.

She didn't check it. I didn't check it. Idiots the both of us... Another 1000B in fuel down the toilet & a day completely wasted.

cheers,

Soundman.
