The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection remained at 35 as of Monday morning (February 24), of whom 21 had fully recovered and have returned home while 14 are still under observation. Of those still in hospitals, most are expected to be free of the virus, awaiting results of the lab tests.

However, there are two critical cases that require extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), said Rungruang Kitphati, spokesman of the Public Health Ministry.

From January 3 to February 22, 1,453 suspected cases were found and hospitalised with 68 through screening at airports. Of the total, 1,121 have returned home subject to continuous monitoring while 332 are still being kept in hospitals. Most cases were found to be seasonal influenza.

The spokesman added that lab tests of the Chinese suspected to have been infected in Myanmar-Thailand border district of Maesod in Tak province, had proved negative. However, the Chinese remains in Maesod hospital for treatment of a chronic disease.

Rungruang denied reports that the ministry might raise the virus alert level to level 3, the highest level, adding that it may define Covid-19 a dangerous communicate disease.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that another Thai on board the Diamond Princess had been found infected, bringing to 5 the number of Thai cases on the cruise ship. Thus far, five Thais, 4 crew members and a foreign tourist on board have been infected and hospitalised.

Like many posters I have been scratching my head a lot over the official figures and I kept coming back to climate. Flu is seasonal and comes every winter, but dies away when it warms up. Singapo

Not telling what the other cases were found to be because it's a secret.

At least no fatalities yet. The dead ate a bit harder to hide.

Yes Thailand is to be admired, the government has managed to suppress the virus, lower pollution, manage its currency, increase tourism, reduce road deaths, has no prostitution anymore.

It truthfully leads the world.

Next project climate change.

Covid-19 will likely be officially declared a pandemic by WHO in the next few weeks. Tourism and travel globally will grind to a halt, hospitals will be overwhelmed and those most susceptible (old and infirm) will die in the millions. Thailand will not escape this pandemic. Asia, the Middle East, Africa and SouthAmerica will bare the brunt of this pandemic, but advanced economies will not escape unscathed either

people die all over Thailand every day - what might be questionable is the reason relatives are given - what do they know

Yeah, not cheap. The reason to use one is the patient's lungs are in a condition where forced ventilation might cause damage. In other words, completely shot.

Sorry to break your dreams.

The commies of WHO.... have just announced that.... euh... they HAVE CHANGED THE RULES.

Si, si.

"WHO says it no longer has a process to declare a pandemic, says old system with 6 phases is no longer being used - Reuters"

????

The spinelesness of those corrupted bureaucrats... is simply mind boggling...

Everybody was waiting for them to announce the famous "pandemics" level... And voila !

"Sorry guys, we changed our system. So <deleted> off, go back to your home peasants".

It's getting better and better.

I suspect Thailand is waiting for this, waiting for other countries case numbers to explode before rejoining the count to avoid the international finger pointing. After reading Christophe's post maybe Thailand was waiting for that which is something I didn't suspect would happen, but how convenient if true.

Then they can point the finger at the evil farangs and shout "they brought it here!".

3 years on Thai Visa and you come up with this nonsense. Yes that figures !

Its the Thai pollution that's coating our lungs to inhibit the growth of this virus. Quick, someone tell Chiang Mai officials to turn off the fountains around old city that were turned on to combat the air pollution!

This one is even more disconcerting and sounds somewhat familiar.Watch how many times the guy on the left in the breaking story wipes his forehead at about 8mins in he also has a little cough at the start,he doesn't look well.

Not necessarily.
More a puppet on the string of big brother Xi in Beijing.

That's smells very much like a candidate and the £2000 a day costs are staggering. And he is a superfit healthy 32 years old.

I hope he gets well soon. Surprised there is no other reference to this story anywhere else. Do you know him by any chance ?

To help to put into perspective the "number" from Thailand. Here is the daily "score" for other asian countries.

(not South Korea, because it's increasing too fast ???? )

- 5 new cases in Hong Kong
- 2 new cases in Taiwan
- 1 new case in Singapore

So a very quiet day indeed.

Same with Hong Kong... One the most "dense" places on earth with large movement between mainland China.... But the virus seems very lazy (total 79 cases).

Last but not least... Regarding the transmission by urine/feces... We have a few data coming from... India. Huge country. Third world healthcare system... and well people going "toilets" everywhere...

Why Iran would have dozen cases (and dead) and not India ?

Or is it because Trump have an official trip in India (starting today). And the indian authorities do not want to "cloud" his trip with bad news ?

And why the fire in Italy (small european country) ?

Or is it because... Italy said yes to China... for the silk road project ?

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-47679760

And USA ? 327 millions... Hundred of flights with China... And nothing. The CDC is even unable to... have proper tests (they are defective).

When  South Korea is testing THOUSANDS of people... the soviet bureaucrats of the CDC... managed to test less than 500 people...

Nothing makes sense.

That was a very sobering update from Dr Campbell

Watch the Iran video especially the end and see the startling similarities with the way people are being told to only get information from "government sources".At the end of the vid the gov spokesperson confirms the 50 death toll number.

yeah that update is not too promising. I did wonder what on earth is happening in Iran, if it has mutated to be more virulent then that changes the game completely

The only mutation occurring is the information released by official channels.

Something doesn't seem to add up at the moment and Thailand either by accident or design hasn't bought into the panic.

Thailand, 100 %, under control.

What else ?

Singapore has a similar climate to Thailand and it has nearly 100 confirmed cases of the virus. Also it closed its borders to Chinese travelers more than 3 weeks ago. Thailand only reporting 35 cases, very dubious to say the least.

Thais don't panic, they become submissive. Unless you shut down facebook. Then it's full on.
