The heavy penalty was imposed on Guy Minhai, who also holds Swedish citizenship and one of five booksellers who disappeared and intermittently released by Beijing in recent years. He was convicted of providing intelligence "secrets". Gui has been in and out of detention in mainland Xin since 2015, when he disappeared while on holiday in Thailand. Stockholm and human rights organizations have called for his immediate release: "Nasty punishment" e.
