My NON IMM OA visa is due for renewal in April. Contemplated applying for new O visa outside Thailand.

Website for Vientiane Embassy seems to indicate retirement visa is OA not O only. Anyone with knowledge of this?

Also what are best Embassies in neighbouring conntries to apply?

Thanks in advance for replies. Cheers

Hi MickeyMouse,

You can only apply for a Non Imm OA Visa in your home-country.  The mentioning of OA Visa on the Vientiane website is for Lao residents only.

You can apply for the 90-day Non Imm O - retirement Visa in many neighboring country thai embassies/ consultates.  But easiest is of course to apply in-country at your local IO.

>> I PM-ed you a comprehensive Roadmap containing all details/options on how to apply for or convert to a Non Imm O Visa and subsequent extension.

The embassy in Vientiane will issue a single entry non-o visa. You would need financial proof, a police clearance certificate and a medical certificate. They can done here.

The consulates in Savannakhet and Penang will issue one with financial proof only and proof you are retired.

There was one report of it not being needed. If going there best to contact them about it or try to have something to show.

Scrounging around looking at options now.

Curious to know what are the chances of them accepting your foreign bank account for the 800000 (in Laos) in the same way that it was accepted when I applied for an OA Visa in my home country.

They will accept the equivalent of 800k baht in a bank outside of Thailand.
