Opposition to launch extra-parliamentary censure debate against Government

 

 

The six-party opposition alliance has agreed, after a joint meeting today, to launch an extra-parliamentary censure debate against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and five other ministers, claiming that the last week’s debate is not over, because two ministers escaped censure.

 

Pheu Thai party spokesman Anusorn Iamsa-ard said today that the extra-parliamentary debate will be held in four regions of the country and the speakers will not be limited to just members of the six parties, but open to outsiders as well.

 

Before the launch of the debate, he said the Opposition will combine all the questions that were raised about the six ministers, to which they have not responded or not properly responded, and will post them on the websites of opposition parties for public perusal.

 

Prachachart party secretary-general Pol Col Thavee Sodsong said that the Opposition did not collude with the Government in sparing two ministers from censure.

 

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan and Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda were spared questioning, supposed to have been undertaken by former Future Forward MPs, because of the mismanagement of debating time by Pheu Thai MPs, leaving insufficient time for them to speak.

 

Opposition advisor Phumtham Wecchayachai said opposition parties must try to resolve the misunderstanding among themselves, so that they can work together in the future, adding that the job of the Opposition is to monitor the Government’s performance and this should not be confined to parliament alone and should be in cooperation with the people.

That is right . And it will make some members of the government feel very uncomfortable .
