Thailand is set to be hit by thunderstorms, strong winds and even hail over the coming days.

The country’s Meteorological Department said the storms are forecast from Tuesday to Thursday (5 March).

The thunderstorms and strong winds are forecast nationwide, with Northern Thailand and the Northeast, where hail is also forecast, set to experience the brunt of the storms.

Property owners have been urged to secure buildings, while farmers have been warned of damage to crops and increased risk of lightning strikes.

In the South, from the Gulf of Thailand, isolated thunder showers are forecast, while there is only a small chance of the storms affecting Eastern Thailand, Bangkok and Central regions.

The news comes as the Meteorological Department has confirmed that Thailand has now officially entered its summer or hot season.

Thailand officially entered summer on 29 February, the Met Dept said over the weekend.

Officials said Thailand may experience a sudden increase in temperatures and have forecast highs between 33 and 38 degree Celsius for the remainder of the week.

that is going to be the dirtiest rain shower of the year

old people used to say: don't be in the rain, you will get sick

well, that is actually false, there is no virus in the sky

but now they are right again ... the air is full of disgusting dangerous particles that will hit your head / body which actually .... can make you sick

Strangely enough or maybe not people many places in Asia avoid getting wet in the rain due to concerns about  getting sick. It does have some basis which is that the sudden chilling effect can initiate infection from the  copious levels of bacteria present in the nasal regions.

Personally I would  prefer to avoid at least the first few rains. In many places  with so much pollution airbourne I am sure it is not healthy to the skin. Acid  rain?

PM2.5, usurpers, corona, drought, high baht, hail .. where are the locusts?

They are on their way.

Ducks can eat 200/300 a day, but the Thais can do double that, so no probs.

Rained about 04:30 today for maybe 20 minutes, in Udon.

And it rained properly 12 hours later - a real squall (i saw metal cooking pots fly through the air!) which blew everything away with about 5 cm of rain. Lost power for about one hour.

Grasshopper season is pretty well finished. The warmer weather is no good for catching them.

Not bad money at 150 baht a kilo. Wife makes a bit of pocket money.

Indeed they did, and maybe still do. I wonder if anyone has asked then why they don't get sick when they shower.

Proably because they have never been caught in a massive shower and had  struggle to get to dry, warm clothes while wet and cold.
