Defamation is the issuance of a statement about another person or business which causes that person to suffer harm. It does not have to be false to be defamatory. Libel is when the defamatory statement is published either in a drawing, painting, cinematography, film, picture or letters made visible by any means, or any other recording instruments, recording picture or letters, or by broadcasting or spreading picture, or by propagation by any other means. Defamation is both a civil and criminal charge in Thailand.

CP works to the benefit of one (or two) families. Working for the benefit of the people. What vomit inducing garbage.   Edit to add: great if they build it but 100 m THB is a drop in their o

If CP  are doing anything it is because CP benefit, make money. Anybody who thinks they are doing this to help people, needs to visit a shrink.

Nice little bit of thinking from CP on this one:   1) Announce 100m THB factory disguised as a charitable venture for the people (Gullible people lap it up) 2) By the time the facility

Sure, but I think your missing my point.

I understand the issue of not being consulted about business plans or direction but I wonder how important that is to either side. CP Group doesn't care if investors don't like a particular strategy because there are plenty more willing investors out there. Investors don't care about not being consulted because it's profitable investment that they can bail out of it a particular direction is not acceptable.

The issue of integrity is slightly more murky but there again many things here are, it's part of the  territory. In Japan, companies show the official bribe taker on their org. charts, just so everyone knows who to go to when they want to get something done, it's not a big deal, just different.

Sure, I say again, I think your missing my point, ultimately about monopolies etc., and the damage that does.

But yes your correct everybody wants a good ROI.

Sorry, yes, I agree monopolies can be very unhealthy from a consumer and employee perspective, I'd taken that as read but perhaps should have been explicit.

Face masks MAY prevent infection if worn by those already infected.  A grand gesture, but with little preventative effect.  "US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams not only wants people to stop buying facemasks to prevent the novel coronavirus, but warns that you actually might increase your risk of infection if facemasks are not worn properly."

Best idea would to manufacture and give out hand sanitizer

Seems like a good investment as after the virus scare has passed they can sell and promote them as protection against the toxic environment and unhealthy 2.5 PM levels they produce with their crop burning agro businesses. Pollution masks are the future. It's a win win. ????

No doubt whatever there will be a Plan B.

Any professional business would, today, ensure the facility is set up so that it can produce other products / can be used for multi purposes. Nothing wrong with that, good business practice.

There has been mention that CP Foods is having difficulty to produce the volumes they need for packaged meals...

On the other hand they already have many buildings and facilities, and perhaps they already have some / all of the equipment needed to make masks (not rocket science)...

And then export them at a nifty profit margin.

The things I want to say I can't say. The wrongs you and your family have done to Thailand can never be or ever forgiven.

With a mask you can get the virus, that's the point people are missing

That must be why governments, hospitals and medical personnel around the globe are scrambling to find enough N95 masks and other PPE to wear when coming into contact with confirmed and potential CV cases...

Because your opinion is they don't work. But apparently, the medical establishment feels otherwise, at least for their own people.
