COVID-19: Half a million people visited Thailand from severely affected countries

i hope everyone is getting the message to stock up on food and water .

everyone should decide where you want to spend the next six months.

good luck.

There is no way that Thailand can enforce anything approaching a similar lockdown. People here need to be out on the street every single day just to get enough to live on. A China or even Italian style quarantine would cause social upheaval beyond imagination in this country. My guess is that everything will be handled softly, with staggered shutdowns of schools and businesses, unofficially extending Songkran, and all sorts of social messaging to try and shame people into staying home.

"COVID-19: Half a million people visited Thailand from severely affected countries"   This makes the official number of infections in LOS even more unbelievable

  • Wow, amazing.   I guess this is why immigration are so paranoid - they think we're all doing the same as they (Thais) do all around the world.

Someone please start a petition or MORE, to hold the thai government responsible for their lies on this matter and to temporarily ban flights n tourists from most affected areas!

I see you're new, here. Have you heard of "attitude readjustment camps?"

Interesting European countries overtaking Thailand with confirmed Covid-19  cases include  Austria, Holland, France, Germany , UK, Belgium, Sweden,  Spain and Switzerland at 214. while Greece at just below at 45 & Iceland at 43. (Source 'i' newspaper 7/03).

There were just over half a million visitors from nine countries deemed now to be especially risky.

That's one of the biggest jokes I've heard/read in the last year.

We all know that people here would lose face, even when it's about a virus or virus-infected people.

China controls the news, and so does this country. How come that the reports about Thailand are so different when they come from a foreign source?

Do they indeed believe that we buy that BS? I don't, and nobody else with a brain should.

These people go through an education where nobody fails.

Then they become doctors, nurses, politicians, and soldiers.

Some soldiers believe that they can run a country, but they can't.

Others don't want to give up their position and threaten other people to give up demonstrating against them./

How does anybody believe a group of people who don't wanna lose their primary income, the tourism?

I get it. We are not wanted, but they start to understand how vital our money for them is? Doesn't make much sense does it?

The number of infected people is much higher, and if you have doctors who treat sick people with a bunch of Antibiotics and Paracetamol, you've got a problem.

But nobody would even say: " Houston ( Bangkok), we have a problem."  No country for old (white) men? Go and figure.

Half a million from the most infected countries and yet only 40+ something infections... it must be a miracle

or something a little more sinister!

They are more effective in testing. Seems the backlog figure for pending tests in Thailand is back in their reports, 1500plus was it?

None of the people who arrived went into quarantine, either compulsory or voluntary.

So who is scaremongering ?

just look up the number of victims of common flu that no one ever mentions;

or the death on the spot traffic victims;

heart disease and cancers due to unhealthy living;

anyone panicking about those or doing something about ?
people are used to those numbers, so no one cares and news about that does not sell well.
however, something scary does sell newspapers ????????????

I study at a university in Bangkok with Chinese students.  They are allowed to come and go whenever they want but when they return they have to stay 14 days in ''the hotel'' alone.  All their food is done via food panda / grab.

The university has no rules about masks or hand washing.  About 95 percent of the students don't wear a mask.

I'm amazed they still want to go back to China for the holidays.  They could stay here and experience Songkran for the first time.

Why is no one talking about the culprit - 5G:

The importance of viewing the coronavirus COVID-19 as a “Telephone Disease” is that by doing so it explains some perplexing mysteries about the spread of this disease—such as why this disease has struck the Gulf nations and monarchies in the Persian Gulf region, but becomes explainable when one notices their ongoing 5G revolution—most particularly in Iran, where this country is completely blanketed to its smallest village with 4G technology coverage—but who are now putting the finishing touches on rolling out 5G technology throughout their entire nation in the coming weeks—finishing touches that included Iran activating their Chinese bought 5G technology for testing—that was immediately met by Iran having more coronavirus cases and deaths of any nation outside of China—and whose Vice President is one of seven of their top government officials now infected.

Agree. Strange that a country like Australia with no land borders with other countries and stopped flights from China and Sth K etc has far more cases that Thailand. One state NSW with a population of under 8mill has 38 cases presently.

Guess Tai figures of confirmed cases proves they are doing an extraordinary job or more likely unbelievable job.

Thailand is lucky that the virus does not survive a long time in a hot environment. Otherwise it would just be like Iran. Either government tries to cover up as long as possible. But in the end their incompetence is revealed and its population lose the trust in their government.

Wuhan was closed off on January 24th and Hubei province on 26th.

44 and 42 days ago. So what is your point?

Welcome back, Traubert.  We haven’t heard from you lately.  So what’s your take on the real situation in Hubei?  Does your government really tell us the true numbers?

????

Even with the 14th 15th century Black Plague which started in China and spread to northern Italy,

(what a coincidence) they shut down the ports (shipping) as it was the main means of spreading the virus. That plague stayed around up until the present when it can still be found in some parts of the world. Why don't the governments shut down the airports and shipping or have full testing of staff and passengers for the virus?

Just like during the plague the Chinese authorities are welding doors shut to apartment buildings and letting the virus do its terrible work. We have not evolved since the 15th century.

If you don't test people then no need to lie with numbers yet so many have died from pneumonia

But is it Huawei 5G?

Thailand will start an epidemic and kill thousand by letting all the Chinese in

Strange that no member has noticed this... Korea has over 150,000 illegal Thai migrants... meaning that these hapless Koreans DO NOT have BMW smart cars!

This is what happens when you build Hyundai or Kia, obviously  not very smart cars...

I watch the exchange rate charts daily.  Today’s Baht movement very unusual.  All western currencies PLUS the Chinese Yuan shot up by the same pattern, at the same time.  Very unusual movement.  Could it somehow relate to today’s admission of guilt in Wuhan-exposed visitors?

I think there is something to this.  Looking at the data that Johns Hopkins gathers it's amazing how some of the huge countries (by population) in Equatorial regions have so few cases - India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Brazil.  Maybe this one will decline in summer time like the flu often does.  I'm trying to look at the positive here.  Too many people telling us to be afraid.

Search underway for 80 escaping Thai workers returning from South Korea

Authorities are searching for about 80 Thais who arrived, in a group of 200 on four flights, at Suvarnabhumi international airport yesterday after returning from working illegally in South Korea. They managed to escape from a restricted area as they were about to be escorted to Sattahip naval base for COVID-19 screening prior to being quarantined.

Breaking with national policy, Phuket's governor yesterday announced forced quarantine for arrivals from South Korea, but mentioned no other "risk areas" for the Covid-1...

You are joking surely? The tourism ministry was recently saying everything would be ok because domestic tourists would take up the slack from absent foreign tourists. Pattaya is declaring itself a covid free zone. Not a single foreigner will believe that, but the average issan farmer, they just might.

far from lockdowns, parts of the government are still trying to get people to move around via domestic tourism.
