Super cheap flights to Aus

Looked on Skyscanner today. Round trip to Aus...$245 USD....   Less than 8000 baht.

I looked online and couldn't find any restrictions on flying from here to there and back,,,,except if you have been to any of the high risk countries in the last 14 days...

I have never been south of the equator and flying down for 4 days...sounds like fun.

Hear they have some good casinos...my favorite place to site see.

Do you think it's a good idea.?

I'm not sick and not worried about getting sick.

Obviously Aussie is worth seeing. Though why anyone would want to go that far to sit in a casino beats me. Also, bear in mind the bleedin' obvious, that it's autumn already and some places will soon be quite cool. [You don't mention your nationality, but also bear in mind even if you're from UK you need a visa that might take several days].

However, the concern at present (I'm in a similar situation) is that no-one has a clue what will happen even in the next few days re checks or lockdowns. Or to cancellations. Suppose by the time you're about to fly they ban entries from Thailand? Or vice versa on the return? Morrison's mob has hardly more of a clue than the momkeys that run the show here.

If it wasn't for such uncertainty, I'd be heading to Venice right now to enjoy it while it's quiet – although even then probably the best museums etc will now be closed.

I'm interested as I ned to do a return trip Sydney to Bangkok in October.

So can you please share; 8,000Baht return, does that include:

- 7Kg total cabin luggage, and how many items?

- 20 or 30 KG check-in luggage and how many total items, what total limit on each suitcase. Or, is luggage charged per Kg and best selected and paid before check-in?

- Meals and drinks on board?

- If there are any stopovers, is luggage transferred automatically to the next flight or does passenger needs to retrieve luggage and book it in again for the next leg, and if this is the case is there a need for a visa to be able to get to the check-in desk. And is there enough time between flights?

- If there are stopovers does the next leg depart from a different airport, and:

- Is there enough time to collect baggage, travel to next airport and check-in for next flight?

- Is this transfer transport automatically organized or does passenger have to find the transfer transport on arrival and negotiate an acceptable price?

I'm asking these questions because a few days ago I found a very cheap flight Sydney to Bangkok but on investigation of more details all of the above came into the picture, including 2 different airlines Sydney to Bkk, and 2 more different airlines Bkk back to Sydney.

I just had a quick look at Jetstar and it is 12.770 baht return direct to Melbourne but the big thing that I noticed was that Jetstar used to operate 5 flights per week but know it is only operating 3 flights per week.

Yes the fares have come down. I booked a return flight DMK-SYD-DMK (Air Asia) 2 weeks ago and now they are half the price I paid. Do not care about the money but just need them to make the flight and not cancel it as I am booked for an eye operation 3 days after arrival. (no, I do not take travel insurance)

Those flight prices excludes, in flight meals, no entertainment, cramped seating.

OK throw in 150 baht for a meal and download a movie to your phone or tablet.

I usually pay extra for more leg room but these flights are leaving 70% empty

Should be plenty rows of seats available for a mini bed and free. Can always pay for an upgrade on board if needed

Be careful brother just had a flight with Scoot cancelled on the day he left, forced to book through SingaporeAir as the onward connections were still good. No apology just told he’ll get his money back in 4-6 weeks. I told him to report it to his credit card provider they’ll refund the money within days happened to me in the past.

NB I just saw Jetstar is "suspending flights to Bangkok and reducing flights to Vietnam and Japan by almost half."

I'll go back and look again, but it looked pretty straight forward for an American to get a visa online.

Spinner said "free" ?   ok, how do you do that.

"free" as in "it doesn't cost anything". But I doubt Americans qualify. Look up "651 visa".

Can you guys who have booked these cheap fares please post a link. Nothing much better than normal as far as I can see. AA had a big sale, but no real bargains. I can get Thai Air for 800 return in September, but hardly a bargain. I'll wait it out and take my chances. ????

800 Aus $ return in september is indeed not a bargain and for sure there are much cheaper options available.

So use a flight-search website like Momondo, SkyScanner or Matrix.

They will list all available flights and the cost for the itinerary and dates you plan to travel.

Just for your info, I arrived back here yesterday on a valid OA issued April 2019. Used twice before and I was asked for insurance because I was entering after the 31st Oct 2019. They stamped me in for a year after I pleaded for 30 minutes. They really did not know what they were doing. I have travel insurance that is valid until May, so they wanted to stamp me until then even though the policy is issued outside Thailand. Then they said they will give 90 days. Not sure what that was about. I had been referred up 4 levels and dealt with 6 officers. I used the corona virus saying I did not want to travel but just stay here while things are bad. They were reasonably sympathetic and eventually caved. But the lady who stamped me in took a photograph of my passport and visa. Guess I was lucky. I thought this was all sorted but still an issue for me.

Wow, 4 months after the IO top decided that entering Thailand with a valid OA Visa (or permission to stay) IO border-immigration still don't have their act together!

Countless people (including myself) have entered and re-entered Thailand on a pre Oct 31, 2019 issued OA Visa and were stamped in for the fully year they are entitled to.

Luckily you did stand your ground otherwise they might have given you a 30-day VisaExempt stamp, or some other clueless period of stay.

Did you enter at Phuket airport?  There were 2 reports in last month of people having trouble entering via Phuket on their valid OA Visa because of the health-insurance issue.
