Police arrested a taxi driver stopped at some red lights on the Prasert Manukit road in downtown Bangkok yesterday.

It was 36 year old Kittikhun who stole a pick-up at knifepoint on March 3rd outsider a wood dealers on the Taling Chan - Suphan Road in Thai Noi district of Nonthaburi.

Investigators found out that Kittikhun, from Bang Len, Nakhon Pathom, had rented a taxi.

He was taken down in the middle of the road and served with a warrant for robbery at night armed with a knife.

He explained in detail what had happened.

He was out of work and only had 1,000 baht left and his motorcycle had broken down. He had no money for repairs.

He just didn't know what to do.

So, on the spur of the moment, and happening to have a fruit paring knife with him, he approached someone in a pick-up who was waiting to pick someone up.

He said to the owner of the pick-up that he would only borrow the vehicle for two or three days and would then park it at the Mo Chit bus station so they could get it back.

He then moved his personal possessions from his address in Nakhon Pathom using the pick-up. After this he parked it at a market in Nonthaburi and rented a taxi.

He apologized to the owner of the pick-up for all the trouble he had caused.

He was detained.
