Café Amazon, a coffee shop chain, on Friday (March 13) suspended its promotional campaign called “Café Amazon for Earth”, which aimed to reduce plastic waste by letting customers bring their own cup when buying a beverage and receive Bt5 discount per cup.

“Due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus or Covid-19 in Thailand, the company has decided to suspend the campaign, which was scheduled to run through April 30 at all branches of Café Amazon nationwide, and will also stop giving Bt5 discount throughout the said period,” said the announcement.

The company said the decision was made to increase customers’ safety and prevent the possible spreading of Covid-19 which might come from personal cups brought to the shop.

Why, makes no sense, clean container, even if virus there, killed by heat, coffee dispenser cleansed in warm soapy water, container back to owner. All equipment used washed in hot.warm soap and water

When can the transmission occur from the container?? Please explain

When they pee in the coffee urn?

Hot water, friction, kill virus

I suspect that in terms of virus particle transmission the concern is that the customer could have virus particles on the cup which he or she passes to the staff member who then picks up said particles and becomes infected then potentially passing it on to other staff and customers.

Container will be sterilised after the cafe employee touches it.

It is important to have a basic understanding of how this virus can be easily transferred person to person within a population.

The recent cluster infection was a classic example from shared cigarettes and glasses.
