BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand reported 32 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total infections in the Southeast Asian country to 114, health officials said.

(Reuters) - France and Spain joined Italy in imposing lockdowns on tens of millions of people, Australia ordered self-isolation of arriving foreigners, and Argentina and El Salvadore extended entry bans as the world sought to contain the spreading coronavirus.

Thailand saw a steep jump in the number of new coronavirus cases, with 32 testing positive for Covid-19 over the weekend, most of them contracting the virus after visiting a pub and a boxing stadium.

PM transfers internal trade chief amid reports of face mask exports

Military personnel banned from overseas travel amid Covid-19 outbreak

The chief of the Defence Forces, General Pornpipat Benyasri, has issued an order banning overseas travel of military personnel in order to avoid risky destinations during the Covid-19 pandemic, Colonel Chatrapi Poonsri, deputy spokesperson of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, said on Sunday (March 15).

Government advised to stop all crowd activities and events

Thailand’s well known virologist, Dr. Yong Poovorawan, has proposed that the Government stop all social events and activities that attract crowds, and to provide easier public access to COVID-19 tests, in order to prevent a wider spread outbreak.

PHUKET: Wichit Police recorded a Phuket woman’s complaint regarding alleged abuse of her 15-month-old daughter at a local nursery. Yet it took the mother a visit to the Damrongdhama Centre (Ombudsman’s Office) to get the complaint registered by the police.
