Energy corporation BCPG has insured all of its employees against Covid-19 infection, president Bundit Sapianchai said on Thursday (March 19).

It had already encouraged all employees to work full-time from home.

“We have numerous offices and plants both in Thailand and overseas,” Bundit said. “The insurance policy will help our employees work with confidence.”

The number of confirmed Covid-19 infections in Thailand rose to 272 on Thursday.

It would be interesting to know which insurance company they are using.

Reading other news reports seems to suggest many health insurance companies are excluding it from their policies.

Thanks for the reply.

I see the Thai language google search you linked to is for 'virus insurance'.

I'm not ungrateful and I don't know, but some might include it, and some might show a result for exclusion?

I've been with AIA for a few years and looking at their website (using google translate) it says for existing policyholders they'll pay 1,000 Baht per day:

"When admitted to a hospital as an inpatient (Maximum 30 days) Total 30,000 baht *

The first confirmed case of being infected with a new species of coronary virus 2019 (COVID-19) between February 19, 2020 to April 15, 2020, and

The insured is admitted to the hospital as an inpatient due to a new strain of the coronary virus 2019 (COVID-19) from February 19, 2020 onwards."

The banks are selling COVID-19 insurance so it won't be difficult to find a broker to negotiate a group deal.

Its worth noting that banks take very large commission on insurance products they sell, meaning they are generally overpriced to the general public.

I found out my partner purchased a bank policy a couple of days ago without telling me.....despite having comprehensive health insurance through Pacific Cross. Basically listening to a bank salesperson and then throwing money in the bin!

These insurances are only for the virus, nothing else ,some of them are for Thais only
