We may be reaching another situation where guns like AR-15s are the perfect tool to protect one's possessions and families.

Right, spray and pray weapons are great for defending your family, but they're hard on the neighbors.  What the heck, collateral damage just shows you're serious.

Maybe you can convert it to fully automatic and supplement it with home made hand grenades.  Your neighbors will hate you, and maybe shoot back, but you do what you have to.

Spray and pray... LOL If you can't aim a shotgun is better. But it's cute when you try to employ gun slang in your posts.

Is it also cute that the US military is moving away from the M-16 because it is poorly suited for urban combat?  And that many Vietnam vets preferred a shotgun to the M-16 in the limited range fighting they encountered in the jungle?  Can you offer a home defense scenario in which an AR-15 is better than a handgun or shotgun?

The AR-15, the civilian version of the M-16, is ridiculous for home defense in an urban area, and not much better in a rural setting.  It's a ridiculous gun, but it makes insecure people feel macho.  It is for poor people what an expensive sports car is for rich people; a penis substitute.
