The number of people crossing the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge at Tak province on Friday (March 20) have increased after Myanmar closed its port that linked the two countries, as a measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The bridge is located in Thailand’s Mae Sot district in Tak province, linking with Myawaddy town in Myanmar.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s 4th Infantry Division has sent officials to monitor people crossing the border areas that Myanmar has closed.

The public health agency in Myawaddy has placed on quarantine 50 Chinese people who had high fever, after a Chinese person was found dead on Wednesday (March 18). “However, relevant officials have not informed the cause of his death,” the town official said.
