Scores of people queue for face masks at Villa Market Soi 11

Scores of people were seen queuing for face masks outside Villa Market on Sukhumvit Soi 11 in Bangkok on Monday.

A long line of people snaked out of the supermarket and along the soi on Monday morning as people tried to protect themselves against the coronavirus, COVID-19.

A spokesperson for Villa Market told Thaivisa: Villa Market are issuing masks everyday at a set time for 10 baht.

But for the last 7 days, stores have been overwhelmed by people trying to purchase a mask, with even more people visiting stores in the last 48 hours.

Officials in Thailand have been scrambling to ensure enough supplies of face masks are available.

Despite both public and private sector organisations distributing masks, and production being ramped up, there are increasingly reports of shortages nationwide.

People have also been charged for hoarding large amounts of face masks.

The news comes as Thailand on Monday announced 122 new cases of COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of cases to 721.

... yeah, let's have some gatherings, swap a few viruses, 555 ...

Don't bother, just wash your hands

Hardly anyone wears masks in the UK unless they are working in the hospitals.  In fact the only other mask wearers are tourists who are coming from the countries where wearing masks are pretty much de rigueur.

Having said that we know that Thai's do like a face mask ????

same same at Villa Market two nights ago in Hua Hin. Long line. Sure.

But but but but.... we were promised from the master race, we have the capability to meet demand!

If this doesn't change things at the next election nothing will!

There are masks and there are masks, you have to have the correct ones to have any effect whatsoever.

Having no mask is no affect... anything is better than nothing....
