COVID-19 prevention in Chonburi: Restrictions on visiting beaches, further closures announced

The governor of Chonburi has put more restrictions in place in order to combat further spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19.

 

An order, released Monday, includes the closure of a wide variety of entertainment venues and locations where groups of people could congregate.

 

Amongst the venues ordered to close indefinitely are, all water parks and public swimming pools, amusement parks, public playgrounds, internet, gaming shops and arcades, bowling alleys, skating and rollerblading rinks,  snooker and pool halls and Buddhest amulet markets.

 

As for private pools, the governor said condos and hotels must decide for themselves whether they want to keep pools open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Markets have been ordered to ensure that customers and vendors are able to maintain social distancing. Each market must have a dedicated entry and exit point, while hand sanitizer stations but be available.

 

While golf courses have been allowed to remain open, tournaments must be cancelled and have been told to close clubhouses and cancel tournaments. Precautionary measures must also be in place. 

 

Meanwhile, the governor has also asked people to avoid using public beaches in Chonburi from 8pm to 6am.

 

This is after hundreds of people descended on Baeng Saen beach on Sunday evening, which prompted concerns amongst officials that members of the public were treating the partial lockdown as some kind of holiday.

 

During the day, beaches must ensure that a distance of 1.5 meters is kept between chairs or sunloungers.

 

While restaurants are allowed to remain open to serve food, if possible they should consider switching to a takeaway only service.

 

The official advice for all members of the public is to remain indoors where possible and only go outside if absolutely necessary.

Jesus Christ, either close the beaches or keep them open - this virus does not hide during the day and come out at night

Fat chance!

Closing the beaches from 8pm to 6am!!!   How many people does that keep off the beach?   Shouldn't that be from 8am to 6pm?    But once again that would probably make far too much sense and we don't want to see too much of that here!!

Life is a beach and then we die.

If you look at the picture in the OP it is obviously after sundown and hence after 6pm. They seem to want to stop the Thais gathering and not the sun-worshipers.

Saturday and Sunday  evening on a beach in Chumphon there were many large groups of Thais on the beach having BBQ and drinking 

So I get it. They are treating this like one of their too many holidays. On the other hand you get two guys sitting in an empty bar meters apart and they are classed as idiots

Its called social distancing......You want the distance between you and the bar girl as small as possible....
