Wanted Old Toyota Corolla Ae86 Rwd

Recommended Posts

Im moving to east Pattaya in July and Im looking for an old rear wheel drive car to prepare for a rally spec. I believe there is a Classic car Rally in Thailand. If anyone in the forum has any involvement with this event and others like it, I would be very interested.

Cheers,

Rob.

Hi Rob (and Marco too if you read this)

There is an annual classic car rally in Bangkok. It is organised by the Vintage Car Club of Thailand. I know the club and the president Mr Boonyarid. But what they call rally is more like a running show of classic cars. Not the rally sport you might think of. They also organise an annual vintage car show. Usually in one of those big shopping malls in BKK. You will be surprised what a fine selection of reasonably well restored cars they put together every year. The VCCOT is also involved in the organisation of some rally's and runs in the provinces, assisting local Classic Car Clubs. I know like that they are involved the Classic Car Club of Lanna in Chiang Mai. If you are nterested I will get the information, website etc, together, because i don't have it handy now in this computer.

Cheers

If interested in a modified beetle you could do a EJ-20 (Subaru Impreza) boxer engine swop. There are some beetles in Bangkok with this mod allready and the cars are hysterical fast.

The second hand EJ-20 engines for sale in Bangkok is most the WRX 280 bhp which you easy can beef up to 400.

The engine is light and will make your beetle fly!

Take a 1070's beetel 1600cc and put 1907-1975 911 Porche engine with gear box and with a small tune up,,,you get your self a monster and no one actually sees anything from outside...

"done it in the past"

Did you find out about the classic car rallying here?

We are currently building 2 mk1 escorts to rally spec.

CIMG4213.JPG

The classic car rally championship has been running several years and having spectated some stages its the real deal, not a show n shine sunday morning drive.

As you might imagine its currently hosting a few jap classic motors ,this is due to the popularity of mitsu a73 lancers toyota dx nissan sunny etc, and tbh even the Thais are bored with them, this in turn lead to some nicely prepared euro models 504 pug, mercedes and fiat 131.

At least one Mk1 Escort will be entering next years events.

PM for more details.

Hi :o

An AE86 is not a rally car... that's a DRIFT car :D I have never seen one in Thailand, surprisingly.... i'd like to have one, too :D

Regards......

Thanh

Drifting is what the brits call getting it sideways, usually in a rally car.

Plenty of AE86 RALLY CARS in Ireland OZ and NZ.

this link shows the last classic car rally event.
