Can no longer renew driving licence to 5 years, now 2 years only
They photograph my face every time I go to the bank now, and other offices. They did the same with me in BKK Bank... when NDID came about. At the time I thought it was that BKK Bank allowed foreigners into the NDID system - but what it really was, was their version of allowing foreigners to FACE ID so they could set higher limits on their App etc. I haven't been in a physical bank for a while now - but perhaps this is what Kasikorn require so that their daily limit can be increased... Again - further examples of how Mileage varies... It wouldn't surprise me if two different forum members went to Banglamung DLT with exactly the same visa and documentation and received a different result !!!! -

What do you need before moving from Australia to Thailand?
Regarding Australian age pension, up to date info obtained;recently emailed from Centrlink: Working Life Residency and proportionality Centrelink’s proportional portability rule applies when someone moves overseas permanently and has not lived in Australia for a full 35 years between the ages of 16 and Age Pension age. This rule reduces your Age Pension entitlement in proportion to the number of those years you were an Australian resident. For example, if you were receiving $1,000 per fortnight before moving overseas, Centrelink will divide that into 35 equal portions which is $28.57. If you were only living in Australia for 10 years before leaving, you will only receive 10 portions. Your new payment would be $285.70 per fortnight. However, as mentioned above, you would start getting monthly payments not fortnightly so you go from $2,000 per month down to $571.40. This rule can catch people off guard – particularly those who have worked internationally, lived abroad earlier in life, or migrated to Australia later. Even if you qualify for the Age Pension under one of Australia’s international social security agreements, your payment overseas may still be reduced under this proportionality rule. -

Helmet noise
I use earplugs on long trips, but I don't like it at all, going to shopping mall 10 or 15km away, can't be bothered. My ear is small, none of these regular plugs mentioned fit, I have to find kid's ones and they are not good either..., generally annoying and not that effective...! I have tried many... In addition to the wind noise damaging eardrum progressively, it causes fatigue and distraction, loss of concentration and not hearing traffic well..., to me this must be the highest priority in helmet manufacturing, but I think it's their last on the list...! They are more concerned about protecting our head if hit something head on at 100kph...!? Don't they realise at those kind of speeds it doesn't really matter if the skull is safe, neck or spine probably break and end it anyway, so who cares...! Marketing like this material can stand 100kph, but the other one only 80kph...!? So it's double the price...! 🙄 -

Report British Embassy Alerts Pattaya Expats to Growing Risks
Thanks so much for clearing that up. I worked as a botanist and seed gatherer. For most people, including me, a herb is a plant with healing properties, and that can include trees and mushrooms. You want to be difficult? Go ahead. Stop being "botancal".
