Pattaya Update News sent their reporters out in Pattaya at 11pm last night and found the resort almost completely shut down apart from restaurants.

Of particular note was that people had stopped congregating on the beaches that were now closed off at night.

Earlier reports suggested that groups had set up mats to sit outside and drink on the sands after entertainment places shut their doors.

This is now over as the beach is now closed from 8pm to 6 am along with almost everything else in one of Thailand's leading tourist centers.

The roads were almost deserted too -  a video showed some motorcyclists out and about but little else.

The media reported that there is widely expected to be a curfew from 7 pm to 7 am starting Thursday.

i was on soi 6 once during a power failure and the girls brought out candles.

it was great, no blasting music and it was dark and very romantic.

experienced that a few times myself.

I remember the power going out for about 12 hours on samed around 2008..

started at 5pm and didnt come back on till 5am.

we sat their all night surrounded by candles and a table full of booze.

some thai guy brought out his acoustic guitar and played a few songs.

the girls loved it.

they were latching on to any man they could find, giving out hugs and kisses like they were going out of fashion.

seems the darkness really brings out the best in these girls! ????

Thailand just copies what the rest of the world does. They have done so for years with all manner of things. Smoking bans, plastic bags etc..

Probably just as well they're doing it now under the current global crisis. If they had to think and make decisions for themselves it doesn't bear thinking about.

At my local 7/11 the bags are back ????

Just the beer and money ... don't get confused.

Funny, because back then I had no money.
I stayed at a small beach hut (400 a night) and took about 5,000 cash in hand for the week.

still managed to get laid every single night.
