Maternity Scars -

Featured Replies

my Thai Gf is so ashamed about her Maternity Scars - so I would like to get some Advices from other Women, how to help her ...

maybe anybody experienced this Remove with Laser Technology?

I'm not a lady but I'll chime in anyway.

This is a common procedure, but it won't be 100% effective. It depends on the type of scars too. Are they just discolored marks? There are lasers to fade scars. Are they indented? There are lasers that can help stimulate collagen that will make the scar fill in some. If they are raised, or keloid, lasers probably won't be very effective.

Do you really mean scars or just stretch marks? There's a difference. A scar would be if she had a ceasarean section. Stretch marks are just discolorations and ripples on the skin as a result of having gained and then lost size. Which is it?

Stretch marks go away with needling. You have to injure the dermis layer (2mm below the skin surface). You do this with a roller. You can buy them on ebay for a couple hundred dollars, or you can purchase a kit here

cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180171843831&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=008

I use Vitamin C supplements also along with STRIPEPTIN and PALMERS COCOA BUTTER with the roller. My stretch marks have filled in and changed back to regular skin color. No longer silvery or wrinkly. Check it out. Here's what professionals say about it. Worth the read.

subcision(needling) often helps on depressed and pitted scars

The needles injure the upper 1-2 mm of the dermis. This injury, minute as it might seem, does cause localized damage and bleeding. This will promote the normal post-traumatic infiltration of fibroblasts and the release of growth factors.

Ultimately, collagen is laid down in the papillary and upper reticular dermis.

This results in confluent collagen production stimulation and deposition, and as a result, may mimic the results obtained with laser, dermabrasion or deep chemical peels, but without destroying the epidermis.

Skin Needling also perforates and softens fibrous scar tissue, enabling the deposition of new collagen

The new collagen fills depressed scars from the bottom up, lifting the scars so that they are level with the surrounding skin. In some cases it is possible to repigment hypo-pigmented scars.

Subcision is a process created for atrophic scars, using fat and other substances to fill up the depression under the scar so that it becomes level. Subcision can also involve the separation of skin tissue from the scar tissue to allow blood to pool, eventually forming connective tissue and raising the scar up. Both these processes are always done by licensed professionals, and the patient may be under either local or general anesthesia, on an outpatient basis.

Subcision

Subcision is a common procedure to treat fibrotic scars. The base of the fibrotic scar (at the dermal layer) is normally anchored by fibrous bands. Subcision releases this fibrous band and reduces the depth of the fibrotic scar.

Effects of surgical scar revision include swelling and bruising, and patients may take up to a week or two to recover, depending on the procedure, size and depth of treatment, and on the patient themselves

Subcision®: a surgical technique in which the fibrous band under the scar is divided, allowing the skin to return to its normal position

releases subcutaneous fibrotic strands that tether the overlying tissue

Medical needling is a physician-performed medical procedure that has created great interest in the cosmetic community because of its efficacy, minimal downtime, ease of use, costs and patient satisfaction. It has been used successfully to treat fine lines wrinkles, lax and photo-damaged skin; to reduce the appearance of stretch marks; and to improve acne, post burn and ice pick scars. It has also been used after liposuction to tighten skin.

VITAMIN C SUPPLEMENT (1000 mg Daily internally) :

Increases collagen but not other necessary skin proteins

A good anti-oxidant, natural skin component

EXFOLIATING 2 Weeks After Needling Session:

Helps removes older skin and allow new skin to rise to surface

The medical needling instrument, a sterile roller with needles all around, is rolled across the skin, which causes thousands of micro wounds. These minute injuries to the dermis result in the start of the wound-healing cascade. The punctures begin the wound-healing cascade, which causes the body to produce its own collagen

It is the body’s own collagen production that results in tightened skins less fine lines and wrinkles and a softening and reduction in scarring.

five days alter the injury to the dermis, a fibronectin matrix is laid down along with collagen. This collagen is deposited in the upper dermis just below the epidermis’ basal layer.

WHAT COPPER PEPTIDES DO IN COMBINATION WITH NEEDLING:

Helps synthesis of new collagen, elastin, and water holding proteins

Rebuilds microcirculation

Antiinflammatory - Blocks Interleukin-1 and TGF-beta-1 and detoxifies free radicals

these vitamins improve the overall skin function and result in thicker, smoother skin. Cellular structures improve the overall skin function and result in thicker, smoother skin. Cellular structures become better organi2.ecL are more effectively bound together and more evenly distributed, which results in dramatically strengthened glycosaminoglycans and intercellular lipids. Fibroblast functionality improves along with increased collagen and elastin. Simply put, use of these vitamins, polypeptides and growth factors, pre- and post-procedure, yield improved and longer-lasting results

skin becomes thicker with more than a 400-percent increase in collagen deposition

Ok, but what can one do for a keloid scar? I had a navel piercing, and injured it while jumping around at the gym. I took it out, and now the scar is raised, discolored, and keloid. Is there anything to help fade these scars?

If you can get Bio Oil Kat give it a try. I have 6 raised scars from stomach surgery & have been rubbing this in to them every day morning & night for a few weeks & there is a distinct reduction in redness & the raised scar is becoming flatter.

Hi Boo,

Presumably this works for scars anywhere on the body? Do you know?

Cheers :o

yep, can use on face & everything. It apparently also evens out skin tone on the face or like brown spots from sun danage but don't know how long you have ot apply it before results for that.

Wow sounds like a miracle oil :D . Sorry to go on... can I buy it in Thailand? Boots maybe?

Cheers ears :o

Depending on if it is scars or stretch marks you will want different treatment. If it is a scar from a c-section. Then not much you can do about it. I have one, luckly the doctor cut low so is just under the bikini line. Even though its nearly 2 years on you can still see it but they do fade to just a small line, so not noticable. If it is stretch marks, I was luckly to not have got them but I have heard and was offered at the hospital in Thailand the treatment microdermabrasion. It is the same treatment that many women get on their faces. Well they also offer it for stretch marks. Don't know if it helps but might be worth a try.

Thanks Boo, I'll go out and look for this stuff. Sounds promising.

There are a variety of different laser treatments that remove or diminish scars. Microdermabrasian also helps with fairly superficial scars altho several treatments needed and best results when combined with some other treatment like IPL.

Best bet is to consult a dermatologist expert in a wide range of laser treatments since every scar is different.

Sometimes surgical revision of a scar is necessary, this is basically cutting it away and then surgically stitching the skin together with very small sutures, replacing the original scar with a much less noticeable thin line, this is mostly used for thick scars.

I plan to have this done on my pet Chihuahua (ugly scar from close encounter with dog-eating Vietnamese in Cambodia) next time there is a valid medical need to anethetize him e.g. when his teeth next need to be clean. On ahuman it wouldn't need more than local anesthetic.

BTW there is a substance called Cicacare or something like that which if applied to suture lines during the healing process greatly reduces or even prevents scarring, most hospitals have it and also upscale pharmacies. It's pricey but really does work.

Great information Sheryl. Thanks so much for that! :o
