Can you imagine the ruckus if DJT sent a C-5 Galaxy full of PPE to Moscow? But he didn't so never mind.

 

Of course we have no way of ever finding out how the average Russian feels about their leader giving succor to their enemy.

If you believe the American propaganda the Russian economy is trashed and they are just about to collapse. While sanctions are never good for any economy,  the Russians don't seem to be in bad shape. Their forex and gold reserves are now at all time high, and the public debt is minuscule compared to many countries. The sanctions increased a lot their self sufficiency in agriculture, to the point that they are now the biggest wheat exporter in the world. 

There are now a few analysts saying that the sanctions helped them to tackle better the corona now.

not just wheat.  they've opened yuuuuge tracts of land in siberia to produce soybeans, with new highways and rail linking just across the border to china.   they grow non-GMO soy, so are not dependent on selling their beans for animal feed.

 

not necessarily corona virus related (pig virus maybe), but don't know how shipping will hold up.  container traffic is dropping, one (or two?) aircraft carriers are out of commission, yesterday a container ship at ningbo reported multiple cases among the crew.

Graciously accepting support in a crisis is a key part of diplomatic relations .

If there was no evidence that Trump  repeatedly attempted to slash the budget for the CDC and didn't take the pandemic seriously until March, you might have a point. The resources that the US commanded to lead the world in responding to international emergencies are precisely those that Trump attacked. With the result that not only was the USA grievously unprepared to help the rest of the world, but even itself.

The Russians don't agree with you on who the common enemy is. Do try and understand that China is a huge economic presence that shares a long border with Russia. There is no way that the 2  will not become more economically intertwined as time goes by.

In a way I must say thanks to Trump as he has not initiated new wars globally. On the other hand, he has approved the actions of multiple authoritarian leaders, like Putin, without scrutiny.
