If it helps save lifes it's a good thing.  Nothing more needs to be said apart from "Thank you Russia".

This is a good move from Putin. It sends a clear message to the world "USA needs Russia's help to survive".

No it doesn't. It sends a clear message that Russia is mature enough to rise above the whole Russo-phobia stance the American left has been besotted with for the past 4 years. They are countering the irrational hatred by providing needed supplies even though their economy has been trashed by American sanctions. Winners here are Trump, Putin and the American people. Losers are the far left MSM news outlets and their faithful followers for having their long running narrative turned upside down.

 Thank you Mr Putin.

...the US played a leadership role in helping other countries in crisis.  Now Russia and China are the world leaders and the US is reduced to accepting handouts from Russia.

The truth. Nothing but the bitter truth!

Extremely difficult and depressing to accept, but it will be so.

Can you imagine the ruckus if DJT sent a C-5 Galaxy full of PPE to Moscow? But he didn't so never mind.

Of course we have no way of ever finding out how the average Russian feels about their leader giving succor to their enemy.

Before Trump the US played a leadership role in helping other countries in crisis.  Now Russia and China are the world leaders and the US is reduced to accepting handouts from Russia.  How does that fit in with MAGA?

the immortal hillary, who is absolutely definitely (maybe) NOT running, when asked about the pandemic, remarked "he did promise america first."  true leadership displayed by that gal, eh.

Heres my moral preening: anybody who does not find her comment reprehensible lacks a basic sense of human decency.

Yes it does. I shows how folks beleive whatever the media and social  media spoon feed them, regardless of the truth, facts and context. But the American people will decide in November, and any more would be off topic. Because the topic is....RUSSIA

I see.  I assume you have a source for facts other than the media.  Please tell us what that source is.

If you believe the American propaganda the Russian economy is trashed and they are just about to collapse. While sanctions are never good for any economy,  the Russians don't seem to be in bad shape. Their forex and gold reserves are now at all time high, and the public debt is minuscule compared to many countries. The sanctions increased a lot their self sufficiency in agriculture, to the point that they are now the biggest wheat exporter in the world.

There are now a few analysts saying that the sanctions helped them to tackle better the corona now.

Cooperation and sharing the only way forward

A minuscule virus had to teach us that!

(We were so intelligent, or we thought as such...)

Edit

Could it be that the COVID-19 was natures way of sanitising the human species? We felt we were so important , intelligent, developed and invincible... and today...?

not just wheat.  they've opened yuuuuge tracts of land in siberia to produce soybeans, with new highways and rail linking just across the border to china.   they grow non-GMO soy, so are not dependent on selling their beans for animal feed.

not necessarily corona virus related (pig virus maybe), but don't know how shipping will hold up.  container traffic is dropping, one (or two?) aircraft carriers are out of commission, yesterday a container ship at ningbo reported multiple cases among the crew.

It seems they have plenty, despite the whining.

Well perhaps they do now which negates the propaganda war on that issue for the moment !

But PPE is designed to be single use disposable. If front line medics continue to go down because of shortages while the need for them ( medics) rises it will not present well in outcome.

As a collective nation that has persisted in boasting superiority in all imaginable "things" the chaos in the  US that continues to present is sad to witness.  "things" being the all encompassing description Trump currently favors to avert his obvious lack of real comprehension. In recent days he has become a bit  more  coherent which I wonder is because his advisors have  gained a bit  more access to his ear or is it because of the absence of toxic orange hair dye?

Congratulations:  you are the first on this thread to turn an act of charity between two world powers into the small-mindedness of anti-Trump hysteria.

And congratulations to you for being entirely unskeptical about the motivations of Vladimir Putin. Do you think Mr. Skripal would endorse your Pollyannish take on the situation? Or the poisoned police officers?  the dead police officer? Or the partner of Dawn Sturgess who died from that nerve poison?

"Emergency aid to Washington was a striking development. Usually, the United States donates supplies to embattled countries rather than accepting them. The origin of the gift was bound to revive criticism from Democrats that Trump has been too cozy with the Russian leader."

Should this end up being the case , then any support I have for the Democrats would be greatly diminished.

What warped and selfish logic mixes 'prestige' in with giving and receiving in a time of need?

Some of these whingers are the first to complain that nobody ever helps 'helpful' America.

But perhaps this  statement is  just media again "poking the elephant" in their lust to create  more 'news' .

"Before Trump the US played a leadership role in helping other countries in crisis.  Now Russia and China are the world leaders and the US is reduced to accepting handouts from Russia."

You confuse unpreparedness with economic might.

Graciously accepting support in a crisis is a key part of diplomatic relations .

Not doing so , for Your People , indicates a basket regime - aka  Myanmar and North Korea !

If there was no evidence that Trump  repeatedly attempted to slash the budget for the CDC and didn't take the pandemic seriously until March, you might have a point. The resources that the US commanded to lead the world in responding to international emergencies are precisely those that Trump attacked. With the result that not only was the USA grievously unprepared to help the rest of the world, but even itself.

They need to cooperate against the common enemy, the Chinese. Ive been saying that since the murderous Soviet regime imploded.

I sooooo wish this was on topic!

The Russians don't agree with you on who the common enemy is. Do try and understand that China is a huge economic presence that shares a long border with Russia. There is no way that the 2  will not become more economically intertwined as time goes by.

This! Also it's good to remember that only weak governments, with weak internal support have to use foreign threats to support their agendas. It's time to kick the populists politicians out of their offices.

In a way I must say thanks to Trump as he has not initiated new wars globally. On the other hand, he has approved the actions of multiple authoritarian leaders, like Putin, without scrutiny.

So, well.. it's complicated.

Meanwhile back in Russia one in five live below the poverty line and people are dyinging due to lack of Equipment. Just a political move for Putin to show the Russian people how good they are while they die.

Well if you can't rely on your really good mates in a crisis, who can you rely on.

Heybruce made a valid point concerning USA's loss of international leadership by the trump administration with dealing with the Covid crisis. Hardly small mindedness, rather awareness of truth.

Only Putin believed that their 'strong' economy would enable him to go head to head with OPEC and win.

He lost.

They'll need that gold and wheat for themselves now.

Good job.

In Russia, the official tally of confirmed cases is 2,337, with 17 deaths

Trump said on Tuesday he and Putin discussed the virus at length. "Russia is being hit pretty hard," he said.

Oop's .. DJT just drove a truck thru' Russia's downplayed account of what's happening there ..

That's very strange - they send these things abroad while there is a lack of the same in Russian hospitals now.

Where are masks ?

Where protective suits for medical personnel ?

Where alcohol-based chlorhexidine ?

Well, Russia sold coronavirus protection means and ventilators to USA.
