Is air mail coming from the UK?

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard if post is coming via air mail from the UK?

Cargo flights, generally are still operating so, most likely, yes.  If international postal services had been suspended an announcement would have been made to stop people taking post that couldn't be dealt with to the post offices.

It is, but it's definitely slower than normal.

thanks for that

I received a package from the UK yesterday. It took about three days longer than usual.

Thailand Post is sanitizing all incoming packages which will cause a short delay. Regular letter post has been only airmail for years and is still operating. Shipping parcels to the US is stopped, by US postal service.

Things might be arriving but 2 days ago I tried to post a letter and was told no air mail leaving. Only surface. That was a Bangkok post office.

Here is a chart of mail services released by Thailand Post, UK surface only.

Yes but this is post out of Thailand ,not inward.

In the last 4 weeks I posted something to the UK by airmail. Took over 20 days to get to the address. Be interesting to see how long the signed paper takes to make it back here.

Are they really sanitizing anything, or are they just putting a 72-hour hold on shipments, which is how long it takes for covid-19 virus to die on surfaces?

Has anyone got a recent update?

My parents need to send some paperwork, it's not urgent enough to need FedEx etc. but it can't wait months either.

I received my pension statements and P60's about a week ago. They would have been posted after Apr 6th of course, the end of the tax year so I'd call that more or less normal delivery time.

Just checked royal mail track and trace item sent april 28th ,received Langley 29th still there awaiting despatch overseas.

Can you tell whether they were sent by Royal Mail or through some 3rd rate courier company in Europe. It used to be that Govt Gateway codes would be sent this way so that they had always expired before I received them by mail in Thailand. Happened to me twice, had to tell them to send by regular mail which took less than a week.

Yes they were sent by Royal Mail. That was the first thing I checked, as I knew someone would ask. ????

I mailed a letter to the U.S. via regular air mail in early April and it still hasn't arrived, so I'm guessing it went surface. I wonder how long surface takes. Good grief.

^ I was told at the post office that surface mail to the US would take about 2 months.

Another thread posed the same question last week. I checked with the Royal Mail who were saying there is no air mail available at the moment. If you need to get something to Thailand - try the courier companies like DHL, UPS, etc.

Looks like mail services from the UK to Thailand have now resumed:-

Just to update, both letters arrived today 26/05/20 so 13 days end to end, not that much worse than in better times.

Mine eventually arrived once flights restarted .took 10 days ,so about normal

I ordered a spare part from E bay on 20/05 arrived today in Ubon, was sent by RM standard Int small packet.

This is as fast as EMS I have previously had sent without all the import duty hassle.

Q:  Is air-mail Thailand to the UK back in operation?

  • 3 months later...

Had something sent with tracking on Tue. 15th. UK to Thailand.

The tracking as of today 21/12 says " Tue. 15th item leaving the UK Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre " .

There has been no movement since.
