Thailand reports sharp fall in new COVID-19 cases

BREAKING.jpg

Thailand on Tuesday reported a sharp fall in the number of new coronavirus cases, compared to previous days.

Health officials said there had been 38 new cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,258.

In addition to 16 new cases, including imported ones, there are 17 patients linked to previous cases and five people who tested positive but await investigation into how they caught the disease, said Taweesin Wisanuyothin, a spokesman of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration.

It was also reported that a further 31 people had now been discharged having made a full recovery, which means a total of 824 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Thailand.

Health officials said one more person had died, bringing the total number of deaths to 27.

Reuters contributed to this report.

Another day of good news, bringing the likelihood of a full on curfew even less likely. We all know that way more testing would be helpful, but I am yet to hear of a single report of masses of sick and dying crowding at the hospitals. It does seem that Thailand is being most fortunate and that the virus here is unlikely to go crazy like in Europe and the US.

If these numbers are to be believed then i wonder why the Education ministry is pushing for a delay to term starting from May to July.

Seems illogical that if the curve is dipping to look for even greater lockdown measures

  • Popular Post

It certainly seems that some of the scientific research released recently around temperature and humidity restricting the spread is true.

The 1% have seen their revenues being affected more than they imagined, so time to reverse the figures and get the money train rolling once more...

If it was only the general population suffering financial hardships, there would be no need to relax the control but.....

Maybe I'm just being cynical ??

You think they aren't enjoying their new found control ?? Loving it... Get them rowdy peasants back where they belong !!

Please God let it be true.
Prayut is a dab hand at changing his mind, with further good news and reductions maybe we take our foot of the brake in a responsible way, and start cautiously returning to a more normal life.

Look unless you have tested everyone or at least tried...like Germany - who tests 500K per week.. whatever data or numbers you have and say  are irrelevant!!! Let say you only test 3 million out of a population of 69 million --- what is the percentage of that is correct???? Just because the infected cases go down does not mean that the VIRUS is dissipating or clearing up!!!!!!

It may also be that the lungs and immune systems here which have not been through months of extremely cold weather are in better position to start with, making it easier to brush off. Don't care right now TBH. Numbers are going down. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

It was a public holiday so maybe the numbers arent in yet? Lets hope it gets better anyway.

The peaks is over. But still beware those who are sick. Stay safe, everyone.

Great! Let's open up the borders with China again now that they have officially on paper contained the virus.

Nah, it's the aliens. The ones that sneak in and do their virus-killing business when you're asleep. You can tell...

"Err on the side of caution"     "Better safe than sorry"

'The peaks is [sic] over'? A touch premature perhaps?

The number of persons under Investigation is still going up quite fast though

Yep the hospitals were closed yesterday, cheez you,re hilarious!

The lock downs must have helped hospital ICU units by reducing the numbers of critical patients being brought in from road accidents.  That is what is reported to have happened in New York City.

Minimum wage is 313-336 / day.  No government employee earns 5k a month.  30 years ago perhaps.

I hope its not T.O.T. sending out this report

And the death rate is staggeringly low so far - particularly when you factor in the supposedly vast number of unrecorded infections so beloved by ThaiV members responding to these daily reports*. I have not yet seen any of the proseltisers of large numbers of unrecorded deaths give a logical explanation of how these death have been covered up.

* I agree that there must have been some element of under-recording due to the testing policy and fees involved

  • Popular Post

Good news (I hope). I have gone on record as questioning the death figures here a number of times, but the more time that goes by with no whistle-blower contradicting them, the more likely it is that there is some truth in the government stats.

  • Popular Post

Even if the warmer Southeast Asian climate inhibits the spread of the virus, which similarly low infection rates in Indonesia and the Philippines might support, it is odd that the mortality rate and absolute number of deaths is so much less than those two countries. Malaysia also has a significantly higher number of cases per capita which is probably explained by more widespread testing.

The coming rainy season could be a risk factor, as that is traditionally the flu season in Thailand.

Maybe deaths of undocumented migrant workers.   Could just put them in the crematorium and no one would be any the wiser.

LOL indeed. It's a huge mistake to make such assessments based on a day or two of lower numbers.

In the US they are testing, at present, about 125,000 people per day or 1 million per 8 days. How many cases would Thailand discover if they became serious about testing and tested anyone who wanted a test... not just people with cold or flu like symptoms. I would not be shocked or surprised if the true number was in the 100's of thousands.
