The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has revealed that the number of international visitors arriving in Thailand between January and March fell by 8.54 million, or 35.3 per cent, to 15.67 million, compared to the same period last year.

The largest decline was in Chinese visitor numbers, which dropped by 59.4 per cent to around 2.4 million compared to 2019. Visitor numbers from Japan fell by 28 per cent to 1.6 million, while visits from Russia declined by 0.6 per cent to 1.19 million passengers.

The top 15 sources of travellers to Thailand were China, Japan, Russia, Singapore, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Taiwan, Cambodia, Myanmar and Indonesia.

This is figures from countries irrespective of nationality by the looks, including transit points. Looks like they've also included workers/border bouncers from Malaysia, Burma and Cambodia. Makes initial figure look higher? :whistling:

Remember when the Sports and Tourism Minister said it'll all be fine by Songkran? I wonder if any journalists could ask him about that prediction now.

See how  not one (dirty) "Farung"  country is mentioned they seem insignificant to Thai tourism now..

China  number 1 ☹️

Russia is at place 3. Is it not a farang country? China is since a long time number 1.

All tourists they are still in the country can´t spend much money because everything is closed.

In January were many of tourists in the country. Normal business.

I suspect the bulk of the numbers are January

March should be pretty much zero and should continue like that for months to come and if westerners have got the message in recent weeks that one could last at zero for considerably longer

Russia is mostly part of the Asian continent. 77% to be exact.  Russia is considered Eurasian and Asian.

so no its not a farang country.

Why wouldn't they be?  Recently, they are 40% of the tourists who come here.

They will still reach this year's target, the paperwork is already done.

All hail the Chinese tourists. We don't care they brought the virus because we will blame it on the dirty foreigners.

If they don't watch their racist hatred then the numbers are going to stay lower from the western world not coming.

Most people they are coming from Russia are from the European part. The majority of the citizens are living there. And most people from the Asian part would called "farang" in Thailand because they look like farangs.

TATsters must be awake 24/7 desperately trying to do a positive spin. Maybe they can do an honest cabbie - but where to find the single remaining tourist. Tough times.

The only farang country which made it into the top 15 is Russia.

Russia proper is considered white. We are not talking about the far east which aren't really natives to Russia.
