webfact
Kalasin hotels ordered to shut By THE NATION File photo Kalasin governor Chitavat Niamsiri has ordered all hotels in the northeastern province to close from Wednesday (April 8 ) until further notice to curb the escalating Covid-19 outbreak. However, any hotel that wants to stay open can submit its screening practices to the health authorities in the province for consideration on a case-by-case basis. Hotels with guests who arrived prior to the closure order are permitted to stay open until all their guests have checked out but must then close their doors immediately. Gumballl
What a stupid knee-jerk policy. How about a simple advisement that people should stay away from one another. Those that must commingle should wear gloves (I'm really referring to the housekeepers at the hotels). I guess some people just cannot be educated fast enough. If you go into a "foreign" environment and must touch things, wash your hands after leaving. Do NOT touch your face... ever! This modus operandi should be practiced at all times, whether COVID-19 or COVID-3019 is present.

Ketyo
Wow. Shuttering hotels. So he is not satisfied with the affect on the hotel sector of the current restrictions. A minimal level of economic activity should continue through the crisis such that the spread is contained, the health services can cope, and a minimal number of companies and individuals go bankrupt. But shuttering hotels could kill of the hotel sector. And also affect industries where people have to travel for business. Maybe if you are in an epicentre like Wuhan its warranted to have such a hard lockdown. But Kalasin? Kalasin governor must be really scared about the capacity of the health services there. To want to kill off the economy.
