BANGKOK (NNT) - A meeting of cabinet ministers has acknowledged the Office of the Prime Minister’s order to set up a committee to ensure that the government’s assistance for those who have been affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) will reach the targeted people in a fair, transparent and efficient manner.

The Deputy Government Spokeswoman, Dr. Ratchada Thanadirek, said today that the cabinet meeting acknowledged the Office of the Prime Minister’s order according to Section 11 of the Government Administration Act, B.E. 2534 (1991), to establish a committee to oversee and follow up on the government’s assistance and gather opinions and suggestions from all sectors. The information will then be proposed to the Prime Minister or an operations center to help in providing assistance and implementing preventive measures. The committee will make sure that the government’s assistance and relief efforts are fair and transparent and that they reach the targeted people promptly.

The Permanent Secretary for Finance will serve as the chairman of the 10-member committee. The members include the permanent secretaries of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Ministry of a Digital Economy and Society, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry, as well as a representative of the Royal Thai Police. The Director-General of the Fiscal Policy Office will serve as the committee’s secretary.

Oh, thank god! A committee is here to save the day. There's no problem this country can't solve when they form a committee.

If they formed 3 committees the problem should be resolved much quicker.

More snouts sniveling around the trough ...

More red tape... a committee to oversee the handout of cash, just in case it starts to reach the needy !

Will they nab all the free loaders who fibbed to get the handout

When in crisis, set up more layers of bureaucracy!
