Good question.  Got another one.  Why has the Government recently announced they will be spending hundreds of billions on large infrastructure projects, when they cannot pay 5000 baht a month to the starving Thais, and are now asking the uber-rich for ideas and donations.  This place is falling apart quicker than I was predicting. Whoever said to me that I was wrong in saying that it will take until the next election to change things - you were right I now think.

They have Govts that are rational and a media that keeps them at least a little honest (mostly).

It makes perfect sense, 6 years in power they've emptied the coffers, run the economy into the ground, made the rich richer, the poor poorer and now Corvid has come along not only do they not have the "resources" to fund it they don't have any ideas.
So he has to go cap-in-hand to those he's helped before and ask for donations and ideas.

Sell/scrap/mothball  the NON aircraft carrier. Cancel/mothball all naval assets that are not defensive assets. Ground/sell all offensive warplanes, replace with state of the art defensive missile/radar systems.Thailand does not need any assets that are internationally offensive.  Slim down drastically the officer corp of the armed forces, only keep those on full time active duty. That should release a large portion of the budget that can be used for infrastructure/education/health and public support.

However, over the last couple of Years or so, the Government have gone on a massive procurement drive for Toys of War.

These Toys are hugely expensive items to purchase, and any contracts for Apache Attack Helecoptors, Striker APC,s, Drones and Submarines Etc Etc Etc will carry massive cancellation penalty clauses, and late payment penalties.

The Government is probably so far down the tracks on these contracts, that any default now will incur massive payments for breach of Contract to the suppliers and Agents, and they will receive no Toys for their Money.

Therefore is better to try and see the Contracts through, and ask their friends for help in funding the poor and  needy program.

 

I am sure you are right but it doesn't solve the massive problem they are facing now with millions unemployed and needing support 

 

IMO it is all about to come crashing down, another 12 months of this makes certain of that - not just Thailand but every country in the world, Thailand is just starting to get with the program now and it looks very grim indeed
