Number of Covid-19-free provinces in two weeks increases to 33

 

 

The situation in Thailand has started to get better as the number of provinces without a new case in the last 14 days increased by four to 33.

 

Prachuap Khiri Khan, Sakon Nakhon, Surin, and Ayutthaya are the new additions.

 

Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, revealed on Sunday (April 19) that nine provinces had not found any confirmed cases. They are: Kamphaeng Phet, Chai Nat, Trat, Nan, Bueng Kan, Phichit, Ranong, Sing Buri, and Ang Thong.

 

The 33 provinces with no cases in the last 14 days (April 5-18) are: Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Lamphun, Tak, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phrae, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Rajaburi, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Udon Thani, Amnat Charoen, Buriram, Maha Sarakham, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Roi Et, Kalasin, Nong Khai, Sakon Nakhon, Surin, Phetchabun, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok, Lopburi, Rayong and Ayutthaya.

 

However, the number of patients in Nonthaburi and Bangkok had increased.

 

The 10 provinces with the most cases are: Bangkok (1,425), Phuket (192), Nonthaburi (150), Samut Prakarn (108), Yala (99), Pattani (90), Chonburi (84), Songkla (56), Chiang Mai (40), and Pathum Thani (33).

Of course none of us believe the government's statistics, but gotta admit it appears Thailand, overall, has somehow largely dodged the bullet.  Here in Roi Et the hospitals aren't overrun and there's been no real evidence of the virus, other than some locals saying there was 1 case.  Yep, the Thai version of the 'coconut telegraph' (Facebook, etc.) is still amazingly quiet on the subject.

 

Geez, I've been expecting a tsunami of new reported cases by now after so many Isaan Thais fled Bangkok since this fiasco started.  Glad that I'm apparently wrong.

 

Stay healthy everyone.  Maybe this _Made In China_ debacle will be over soon.????????

Not sure I understand your post!

Personally the problem of lockdown is when it is relaxed, at the moment Mrs 2 kids and me are quietly conforming to lockdown and of course the curfew, when they end or any relaxation the kids will be gone off here off there for no reason it will be just to get out and congregate, the daughter (19) hasn't seen here boyfriend for over 4 weeks so its not much good telling her to keep a metre apart is it coming  home will possibly undo all the good we have done.

The sort of people that believe the information being peddled on this ...are the kind of folk that would buy dry sand off a market stall next to The Sahara.

Of course you're saying this without any evidence.  I agree numbers are low.  So are Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, all much lower than Thailand. Also Japan, Hong Kong and others.

Unless you have good reason, backed up with any kind of evidence, then you have to accept the figures given.  You consider yourself to be so smart, then back up your statement above, or shut up!

So if all these provinces are covis free, Why are we not allowed to buy alcohol ??

If you do not test you do not know.  I have to list a quote from the USA state of Florida:

All the Governors are watching each other afraid to be the first to break ranks. It will take just one to boldly go and ease some restrictions, then they will all fall over each other trying out match the neighbours.

Having low numbers and (being able to afford) reporting low numbers week after week are one and the same for practical purposes.
