Plan to lift some restrictions in 32 provinces considered

The Public Health Ministry has come up with a plan on lifting restrictions on some businesses in 32 provinces, which will be submitted to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) for consideration.

Kamnuan Ungchusak, an adviser to the public health minister on the Covid-19 outbreak, said at a meeting with related agencies, it was agreed that the measures should be relaxed slowly so people’s lives and businesses can return to normal. However, he said, some measures should remain in place such as screening arrivals from overseas and quarantining them for 14 days.

Also, he said, provinces should keep a close lookout for new infections and monitor crowded areas, while laboratory tests should never be slackened.

“People should also continue wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and refraining from assembly to cut down on the risk of new cases,” Kamnuan said.

Meanwhile, there are seven to 10 million people who have lost their jobs and health officials believe that some leniency based on the level of risk in different areas should be granted to businesses. However, some businesses such as entertainment venues, pubs, bars, karaoke clubs, massage parlours and boxing stadiums should remain closed until the outbreak ends.

As of April 14, no new cases were reported in 32 provinces for over two weeks, hence some restrictions will be relaxed in these provinces from May 1, while life in other provinces may return to normal by mid-May.

However, businesses in the the provinces of Bangkok, Chonburi, Nonthaburi, Phuket, Samut Prakan, Pattani and Yala – where new cases are constantly being found – may start operating from the beginning of June.

As for department stores, operators will be required to screen each shopper for temperature, limit the number of shoppers and the time they spend in the store, not allow queues in the toilets, collect customer data and desist from holding sales promotion events.

It is believed that parks will be the first to be reopened, provided people agree to exercise on their own and not in a group. Schools that are planning to reopen in July will have to make plans to adapt to the situation, especially in terms of the space between each student’s desk.

I think it is a good idea for those cities have no Covid-19 cases.

A list of the 32 provinces would be nice, so we know where we stand.

There are, as of yesterday, 35 provinces with no reported cases for 14 days.  Add into that 9 provinces that have never had a confirmed infection EVER and you have 44 provinces that are virtually clear.  The majority of cases have been in 4 or 5 provinces, mainly BKK and it's neighbours.

Here in Hua Hin, for example, there have been no new cases for a month.  Currently, there are 2 cases in hospital who have been there for some time.  One death of a guy on a train from BKK.  There are zero people in quarantine as all the returnees have now been released.

So HH has 2 cases that have been in hospital for the last month.  That's it.  Nothing more!  But still we're under lock down, along with many other provinces with no virus activity.  The fanatical wearing of masks or be fined/imprisoned for not wearing one.  Social distancing and 'hand washing' is not being respected.

In HH you have more chance of winning the lottery than catching the virus.

Build a wall around BKK or at least restrict travel in and out of the city and open up the rest of the country and allow people to regain their livelihoods.

But but but.... 2nd wave, flatten curve, overwhelm NHS, blah blah blah....

Open up businesses and let people decide their own fate

No I don't have a link... You have to search for it if you want it... It was reported 28 provinces, then 32 etc.. Plenty of coverage

You must live in a different Huahin as the rest of people, and I'm sure there are many more errors in your post as well.

He is a 58 year old Belgian man who arrived in Bangkok on March 19th with his mother, aged about 80, on Qatar Airways.

He stayed in Bangkok for a few days then went to a condo in Hua Hin on the 25th and tested positive at Bangkok Hua Hin Hospital on the 28th.

This was yesterday's report for Hua Hin as you can see, there are only 2 confirmed cases which were confirmed some weeks ago.

Maybe I am being really dumb but doesn't that say that the number of confirmed cases is 15. The number of cases in hospital are 2.

Oh dear!

It gives the number of confirmed cases as 15.

Of those, it gives the number of recoveries as 12.

That leaves 3.  2 are in hospital and one is dead.

Got it?

now that songkran is over with, restrictions or not it wont affect my life in any way.

the timing of this wonder virus was impeccable,

plz come back in a timely manner ahead of next songkran.

thanks, yours sincerely

Hua Hin is now officially virus free.  Zero active cases and zero quarantines.  Just the one death on a train from BKK.

Insane. Imagine if they got the Italian situation, we would definitely get the Wuhan treatment for sure.
