Sales of Suzuki in the first quarter grew 15.1 per cent, compared to the same period in 2019, while other brands saw decline in sales.

Toyota Motor Thailand reported that total sales in the automobile market were 200,064 in the first quarter, down 24.1 per cent year on year due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Passenger and commercial car sales fell by 23.6 per cent and 24.4 per cent, respectively.

However, Suzuki sold 6,529 vehicles, a 15.1 per cent growth, while Toyota sales slumped 34.9 per cent (56,161 vehicles), Isuzu sales fell by 5.6 per cent (42,398 vehicles) and Honda was down 4.4 per cent (28,678 vehicles).

Wanlop Triruk-ngam, Suzuki Motor (Thailand) executive director of sales and marketing, said that his corporation had seen a tendency for contraction in the Thai auto market since last year. Suzuki, therefore, focused on three target groups -- local people or traders, government officials, and private staff -- with marketing promotions.
