Shipping some stuff back to Australia

Just wondering if anyone shipped anything back to Australia recently? I'm talking maybe about 1 or 2 pallets.

I remember when I moved over here shipped about 8 boxes (tea chest size) and a couple of other small things near $3000AUS sea freight.

Was door to door and didn't care too much back them but seemed like an awful lot to what wouldn't have amounted  to a small pallet of

items. Anyone done any better than this?

 

If they are your own (used) personal stuff you are shipping back do the Aust customs hit you with tax same as they do here?
