The Government Lottery Office (GLO) will stick to its schedule and draw for the April 1 lottery on May 16, while the June 1 lottery will be sold and drawn as normal, Thanawat Pholwichai, spokesman for the GLO committee, said on Wednesday (April 29).

On April 15, GLO had announced it was postponing the drawing of the April 1 lottery again to May 16, after it had initially put off the April 16 draw to May 2 in a move to avoid public gatherings to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.

“GLO will employ measures set by the Public Health Ministry, including fewer people at the site where the numbers will be drawn, disinfecting all equipment and furniture and enforcing the rule of wearing masks and the sanitising of hands,” he said.

He also said that lottery sale will return to normal from June 1 onwards.

“Vendors can reserve tickets at the office as normal,” he said. “We advise vendors to wear face masks at all times and wash their hands regularly. Both vendors and buyers should maintain social distancing and avoid gathering in front of lottery stalls.

“Most importantly, vendors should plan their purchase of tickets carefully and keep in mind that not too many tickets may be sold during this crisis,” he added.
