16th May lottery draw to go ahead

BANGKOK(NNT) - The Government Lottery Office (GLO) has postponed three lottery drawings: the 1st April, 16th April, and 2 nd May drawings. The office has confirmed it will not postpone the next drawing on 16 May, and will sell lottery tickets for 1 June drawing as usual.

Any persons who have purchased lottery tickets in the postponed drawings can win prizes in 16th May draw. The GLO Spokesman Thanawat Polvichai said today the office will strictly enforce health and social distancing measures at the Lottery draw event.

Lottery sales will continue as normal from the 1st June draw onwards. Sellers and customers are encouraged to practice precautionary measures by wearing a face mask and sanitizing their hands when making transactions.

A GLO Spokesman said today that lottery sellers should keep in mind the reduced purchasing power of people in the neighbourhood where they sell tickets, due to the financial impact of COVID-19. He urged sellers to purchase tickets for resale in appropriate quantities.

So the poor get poorer and die because they won't adhere to social distancing whilst buying a lottery ticket and the rich get richer

The last things any out of work people needs now is the lour of winning the lottery with the little or no money they still have, but hey, anyone at the GLO conciser that for a moment? for them the time is right to bilk people of the little money they still have and if not, borrow to buy a ticket...

most buy underground so they don't actually go to the vendor.

It would be nice if the lottery sellers charge only the legal 80 Baht and it would be great if this law gets enforced...

Trouble is that the rich middle men buy up a large allocation of the available tickets. These are then sold on to the street vendors who have no option than to sell these tickets at above face value.

The whole system is archaic, designed to pass money up the chain and cries out to be replaced by a properly organised online lottery as operated in most other countries.

This is referring to the 5000 baht hands out right?
