Hi Everyone,  I am thinking of applying for Permanent Residency based on Humanity Category supporting my Thai wife and Son.

Could anyone please tell me the requirements- minimum monthly income, documents etc.  ?

How will I know when it is time to apply?

Thank you in advance....

Humanitarian reason or not, you'll need three continuous years of Work permits, with the corresponding tax returns. This was my first big disappointment when I came here. I am still begging my wife to teach me how to say humanitarian in Thai, she thinks the might be a word, but it would not applicable to Farang, Mia farang , and Leung Creung.

See page 11 of this PDF. Permanent Residency Requirements June 2019.pdf

It does not mention the salary requirement but it has been 50k baht if appling based upon being married to a Thai.

The period of time to apply will be announced later this year when the cabinet approves the quotas for this year.

Are you aware you can apply for Thai nationality if you can meet the requirements for permanent residency? The salary requirement for it is 40k baht. The total cost to get it is much less than permanent residency.

Thank you for the file Ubonjoe I heard getting Thai nationality is very difficult and would take many years... and it will be easier if I am a permanent resident.

Not much difference time wise for PR or Thai nationality.

Not any easier if you have PR to apply for nationality.

To meet the threshold for applying for citizenship there is a points based system which requires a minimum of 50 out of 100. Holding Permanent Residence gains the applicant between 10 and 20 points so it is easier than without.

However I agree in general that if starting from scratch, going straight for citizenship makes more sense.
