Not a fair comparison at all. Suicide isn't exponentially infectious.

You don't seem to understand how exponential infection happens. Thailand took actions that prevented that. So far. Also the official numbers are obviously an undercount.

I don't think COVID would do anything to me.  Well, if I haven't gotten it already, I would say 3% chance it would kill me.  KILL.  If I need to eat and get food, i'll take my chances.   see my gf, i'll take my chances.  BUT go to a mall and walk around.......nothing there is worth it.  wait for vaccine. 

And what if the vaccine causes people sickness?

They hardly test anyone which means they have no idea how many are infected or not. Yes masks and hand sanitizers are good, most of their restrictions are purely for control. It's not the end of the world if few thousand die, but busted economies are more serious.

The fact is that this society of consumers, many of them living in socialist/nanny states has gone soft. 

 

Well, we might have partly escaped the pain from the virus, but in doing so we have set ourselves up for years of major economic and financial pain... and that is if we are lucky enough to avoid worse, like the massive conflict that is brewing in some corners of the planet...

So all of this for the probability of dying of Covid-19 in Thailand at one in 1.25 million. By comparison the chance of getting struck by lightning is one in seven hundred thousand.

It was claimed here on TVF that Richard Barrow's Twitter feed pointed to a government video on how the app works internally, but I couldn't find anything.

Later responses to this TVF discussion item talk about luetooth and Apple's IBeacon shopping interaction; but without more information from the government, or release and re-engineering of the app itself, it's difficult to know what's really going on. Note that a check-in only app means you have to suspect and trace/investigate all shoppers in a store the size of a Tesco Extra or Central Festival during the entire period an infected Thai was also in the store, whereas Bluetooth broadcasts have other problems.
