Seacon Square shopping mall on Bangkok’s Srinakarin Road has come in for praise by netizens for employing a series of measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 after the government relaxed its lockdown restrictions and allowed malls and other businesses to reopen on Sunday.

Among the measures that have been widely shared online and applauded are the installation of foot-operated control panels in the mall’s lifts, which allow users to select the floor and close/open the door by pressing the pedals so as to avoid touching anything, much unlike traditional elevators.

The other measures the mall has employed include installing hand gel dispensers in front of lifts and escalators, painting guide lines on the floor in possible crowded areas to force customers to maintain a safe distance between each other, and having thermo-scanning checkpoints as required by the Public Health Ministry.

Seacon Square stated on its Facebook page that it hoped the measures would become the new normal for shopping malls nationwide as they can prevent not only the spread of Covid-19 but also other kinds of germs, while promoting better hygiene and safety among the public.

Certainly more “pro-active” than most places in the USA ( it makes a difference when your leaders are concerned about their citizens rather than the stock market).

Agreed someone's thinking outside the box and actually installing the idea for the added protection of customers.

As for those saying "what about using the same pen" at the entry point... just take you own pen, stop being children! !!

what! the US tested millions of people, nobody really knows how many were tested here as it went from 10k to 70k tested in days and nobody could ever give a valid reason or proof

and now we have pictures and cute videos for millions on social media about the caring thailand shopping experience, to pass on to the world, some inter news organizations, i am sure also did some reporting on bangkok, using the same quirky pictures and videos, in reality, last week i could go into a mall with just a temp gun to my forehead, now same mall makes me fill out forms, all for the show, this is not an advanced society, and has little to no human rights

Think of all the malls in Thailand, and all this govt mandated, fancy equipment. Fat contracts are being handed out. Oh yes, we must have thermal imaging face scanners, we must have machines spraying our feet with disinfectant, we must have foot controls in the lifts. Someone's making a killing, no doubt relatives of some official.
