The number of businesses registering on the ThaiChana platform increased from 67,904 on Wednesday (May 20) to 73,295, while total individual users increased to 6.333 million from 5.077 million, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Thursday (May 21).

Every business registered on the platform will get a QR code, which visitors can use to leave their phone number as part of a contact-tracing exercise. The platform also allows venues to keep track of the number of visitors as well as collect evaluations.

As of Wednesday 9pm, total customers checking in and checking out from ThaiChana were 11.570 million times and 8.652 million times, respectively. Besides, people rated the venues they visited through the platform 5.2 million times.

The spokesman said that officials had visited 21,679 businesses to check if they were practising Covid-19 preventive measures. Thirty-one businesses were found to be in breach, of whom 53.2 per cent did not provide enough space for social distancing, 16.3 per cent were too crowded, and 12 per cent had no sanitiser or soap, he added.
