Most farmers pleased with minister Chalermchai's performance

Some 89.4 per cent of farmers in a Super Poll opinion survey showed the thumbs up to Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sreeon’s efforts to solve problems relating to agriculture.

 

 

Noppadon Kannika, director of Super Poll Research Centre, said on Saturday (May 23) that the poll surveyed 1,040 farmers nationwide from May 19 to 22.

 

“We collected the data using various methods, including telephone interviews, site visits, and social data collection,” he said.

 

When asked what farmers want the ministry to do, 82.4 per cent of respondents want access to agricultural resources, 71.5 per cent want higher crop insurance, 69.2 per cent want access to agricultural markets, 65.7 per cent sought a solution to the fertilizer prices issue, and 64.1 per cent want help with production costs.

 

Asked what measures pleased them, 85.9 per cent of respondents liked the cash handouts for farmers and crop insurance, while 65 per cent liked the ministry’s move to increase crop price, 31.2 per cent liked rubber insurance, 19.1 per cent liked flood protection projects, and 18.2 liked water reservation to tackle drought.

Asked to evaluate the Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister's performance, 76.2 per cent of respondents cited his ability to solve problems, 64.8 per cent mentioned solving problems quickly, 62.9 per cent cited readiness to immediately help farmers, 62.4 per cent spoke of his friendliness, and 57.4 per cent cited his not having conflict of interest.

They are still happy when they want all of these things. Life must be easy as a farmer (or about 1000 of them). What a joke.
