Must Read Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
As bad as the US tax code is, at least we can still earn $60K tax free, which would result in a $10,000 tax bill with no tax credit available. Is it worth paying $10K+ per year to remain in Thailand, where I still have to post a $25K bond and report to my probation officer every 90 days? I might consider getting me one of them 10-year China visas. Unlimited entries for the bargain price of $140. China also has a global tax system, but only takes affect for expats after 5 continuous years of tax residency, and the clock resets anytime you leave the country for more than 30 days. -

Destination Thailand Visa Gains Popularity Among Expats
Honestly why does anyone bother with any of the paperwork to stay in Thailand long term? Last yr it took over a month for the bureauprats to approve my 60 day SETV - plus an extra 10 days b/c they didnt approve of my hotel. Meanwhile if youre Russian or Chinese just come visa free . . . and stay for eternity, no Qs asked. I will never ever again give them 60 bucks for the privilege, let alone spend hundreds if not thousands to stay long term. Far better options in the region w far less hassle and expense. Cambodge and Vietnam come to mind. -

New travel rules: Thailand’s ETA to shake up visa-free visitors
Also solves the problem of all the retirement and other long-term visa people complaining that the 300 baht tourism fee could affect them. Now if it's only for visa exempt they won't have anything to complain about. -

Baht becoming ridiculously strong
I partially agree. "pivot points" are of interest. All technical indicators are in "ouverbought" territory. I don't need any algorism to tell me that. It won't be long and all technical indicators will be in "oversold territory". What tells your "algorism" to you, that my standart technical indicators don't tell me? Warren Buffet is famous. You are not. Why not? -

J.D.Vance declines to criticize Tucker Carlson over his friendly chat with Holocaust Denier
Wolfgang Benz is more the expert on Generalplan Ost, Overmans was more someone who wanted to solve the difficult questions of what actually happened on the ground, how many Germans died, how many Soviet prisoners of war died ... Generalplan Ost was more of a resettlement fantasy of the SS to be implemented after German victory. -

Yeah, that will keep most of going until some time in January each year. Such a tiny tax free allowance, the whole system is a joke. -

I don't think it works that way. Your income may already be taxed, but Thailand will tax at a higher rate. It's then up to you to (try to) claim Thai tax credit on your US returns. I believe that's how the DTA works outside of income the US has sole right to tax. All those deductions and exemptions you have under the IRS code? Not recognized by Thailand. Thailand will be taxing a much more bigly number. You don't get the $14,600 standard deduction or the $47,150 0% LTCG tax rate (2024). You do get the 60K baht Thai standard deduction, but your capital gains are taxed as ordinary income, possibly at up to 35%. That's ALL your capital gains. You don't get to offset with capital losses.- 1

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
I'm sorry I don't cheerlead for this war to continue and see it as binary good vs evil that started on 24th February 2022. But there we are, I make my own mind up , I am beholden to no-one or no source and read widely and comprehensively. Indeed I watch RT on average once a year since the invasion to see how ludicrous it is as a source of propaganda. If that makes me a Putin shill in the minds of some here so be it. I avoid baiting and name calling as well I should and if there is one lesson I have learned in my life ,so far if you must waste time on internet forums , don't get angry or annoyed - it's just random people you don't know hammering away on keyboards most probably because they have nothing better to do. War is the greatest evil: Russia was baited into this crime — but that's no excuse https://www.salon.com/2022/03/01/is-the-greatest-evil-was-baited-into-this--but-thats-no-excuse/ This provocation, which includes establishing a NATO missile base 100 miles from Russia's border, was foolish and highly irresponsible. It never made geopolitical sense. This does not, however, excuse the invasion of Ukraine. Yes, the Russians were baited. But they reacted by pulling the trigger. This is a crime. Their crime. Let us pray for a ceasefire. Let us work for a return to diplomacy and sanity, a moratorium on arms shipments to Ukraine and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the country. Let us hope for an end to war before we stumble into a nuclear holocaust that devours us all. -

Are you HAPPY to be ALIVE?
Dear Folks, If one is truly happy to be alive, then why let the small stuff interfere with one’s wish to be happy, happy….HAPPY? Let me provide you with just one example from my own sad experience: Yesterday, and on into the night, I was worried about an Energy Sticker that might be improperly stuck to my machine. Was this worry warranted? Or, could it even have been avoided? No, not likely. Almost Nobody can avoid Energy Stickers in Thailand,...Obviously…unless…they have power and clout… Therefore, you just gotta deal with it, and go with the Thailand Flow…. As it turned out, at least for me, my Energy Sticker had been relatively painless to pull off from my machine, and nothing like a stuck-on bandage, to a festering wound, or anything like that…. I am only saying that sometimes we overly concern ourselves with pointless worry about small issues that might never, finally, even materialize, no matter how unimportant they might be. And, it’s these senseless worries which often distract us from our HAPPINESS. I think you might recall the wonderful and insightful film: The Inn Of The Sixth Happiness, maybe when you were younger, in 1958. Well, this is what I’m talking about! Well.... Here we are, in Thailand, in The Land of Six Happinesses. And now that you have taken the trouble to arrive, would you then really want to spoil your great time in Thailand….just by worrying about an Energy-Sticker Requirement? I thought not, and I STILL think not! I realize that I have written to you many times on this Glorious Forum….TV….over the past many years…..BUT….. I think that THIS Topic is one of my most profound. And, in addition, I think that it’s most apropos of this profound Topic that ….TOMORROW is a Sunday, which might be a wholly day for some of you, and I respect your beliefs. However, I still must say that MY Topic is above religiosity, in any sense of the word. I am just asking you ….not to do as I…but to, instead… Not sweat the small stuff….and, again…not as I. And, most of all… Please do not sweat anything nearly as small as a sticker. This is my sermon to you…. This Sunday. I knew you would love it. And, there are those here who might love it more. Best regards, Gamma (The Same Gamma) -

Baht becoming ridiculously strong
That's what you claim, however, very successful Forex traders say that understanding fundamentals is just as key as technical indicators and chart analysis. I do agree with your last paragraph though, the news is indeed also made to fit what happened, to get some kind of explanation. However, the market does have real fundamentals, and those people who move the markets do not just place trades on a whim, they also consider the fundamentals of the economy. -

Jomtien TM30 Requirement
As of November 2023, Jomtien requires a new TM30 for returning from outside the country. It caught many people out and they got fined, because it was a change in policy. Also countrywide, you must do your first 90-day report in person after returning from outside the country. You might get lucky and they accept the online submission, but many many have been denied with the reason that they must go in person after returning. -

J.D.Vance declines to criticize Tucker Carlson over his friendly chat with Holocaust Denier
Again, the Wehrmacht was poorly prepared for taking care of prisoners in the East, the letters by German officers which Cooper mentions where they complain there is no food to feed the prisoners are real. The German standard scholarship agrees that the Wehrmacht made insufficient provisions for prisoners. To see Generalplan Ost as a blueprint for what actually happened in the East is problematic. From your own link: "It was a confidential proposal whose content was known only to those at the top level of the Nazi hierarchy" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generalplan_Ost Since this plan was only known to those at the top level of the Nazi hierarchy, it is not realistic to see day to day actions carried out by Germans on the ground as motivated by this plan. In addition this plan was never fully implemented. Again, from your own link: "Generalplan Ost was only partially implemented during the war in territories occupied by Germany on the Eastern Front during World War II...However, its full implementation was not considered practicable during major military operations, and never materialised due to Germany's defeat." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generalplan_Ost Generalplan Ost is more accurately seen as what the SS would have wanted to happen in case of German victory, it was more a plan for the future than an actual plan for how to deal with prisoners of wars on the ground during Germany's actual military operations. -

Certificate of residence from Changwattana
The influx of Russians mostly. They were at a point for many months where they hit their daily capacity of residence certificates (300) and would turn people away after that. And that happened every day for many months. I'm not sure if it's still like that but supply & demand.
