They may have failed in some areas but at least they tried and accept the criticism rather than sit back, do nothing and never having to face anything.

Yawwwwnnnn!

Not that old pile of tripe. The Russians beat the Germans and thats a fact.

You mean the same as Vietnam? Now which country is the preferred destination for expats and tourists now? Vietnam or Thailand?

Nevermind the intervening 50 years of hell in Vietnam, until they lightened-up.  But even back then, they fought off the Chinese invasion.  Don't get me started on the horrible way things were handled in that conflict - as I said elsehwere, the USA is not good at "installing regimes" - why I am glad they didn't try that in Thailand.  But that doesn't make the communists the good guys.

Much of the jet-tech was sold to them by the USA's so-called "greatest ally."  In exchange for lots of cash, Bill Clinton allowed Loreal to sell them the telemetry tech, which enabled them to precision-target our cities with ICBMs.  Rockefeller's minions worked tirelessly to send our R&D to China.  We have a lot of rot to clean up at home.

But much tech was stolen outright, also.  Hacking was one way.  The "thousand talents" program was a huge spy-system, which infiltrated our research universities.  A US "college professor" of Chinese origin was caught at the airport with biological samples packed in his socks.  Granted, we let the trojan horse in, under the guise of "better relations."

Who are you talking about China, Thailand or the USA?  Actually, I guess it could be all 3?

The Russians did supply the meat needed to run out their ammo.

Re-run history without a Western Front, and see how that works out - no need to send troops to Italy, France, etc.  No Western bombing, etc.

But credit where it is due - the Russians suffered hell to defeat the German Army.

Masters of the universe are friends only if they have strategic or financial benefits. If not, you face sanctions.

Note the Fact. No asian Country like the USA, but they like the Money for US Bases. Easy Money......This sweettalking Ambassador seems to be naiv, or he is not talking the truth!

Maybe you need to re-read history when you're not so tired. Unfortunately its probable that ability may still not exist but the simplicity of such reasoning at least provides some humour to those not yet certified 'non compos mentis'

how come thailand never seem to be invited to any country with the red carpet treatment I never see uk or europe invited this thai goverment

I wear my mask and did no looting as Ive been on lockdown since I got back mid march, I follow the rules

Had I known this was coming I would have stayed there, as Im wishing I could jump on a plane and return

Be nice if we werent all judged as a group instead of the 1/3 of Trumpers who ruined my country...

This American hopes Thai-US friendship will persist no matter which transient leadership holds power.

America will return to stable, engaged diplomacy. Please just be a little patient as democracy shows how messy it can be.

Complete nonsense, as much of the rest of your post. Sir Frank Whittle invented the jet engine and the designs were passed on to the Americans for free to aid the war effort. The Americans then saw an opportunity and patented it.

And in case of Trump: Does he work in the interest of the USA? Or does he do anything possible to keep his job because after he is no president anymore he has a good chance to go to jail.

That is silly.  The documents are declassified, now.  We know the whole Russia-gate bit was a sham/distraction.

"We" don't know that!

Trump can't be charged for a crime - that is why he is not charged. And that was all over the news.

Yep, you certainly like to rewrite history. Stalingrad was the turning point of WW2. Germans lost almost 1 million men, thousands of support were moved from the Western front, permanently weakening it. The Germans only retreated in the Eastern front from that point.

Air superiority was achieved by the Battle of Britain and the North African front was won when Britain, Australia and NZ defeated Rommel at El Alemain. The Germans were in retreat on all fronts before the US even arrived in Europe and played no significant part in winning the war in Europe, However, Hollywood movies will tell you otherwise.

The western world needs the US, flawed as it may be.

A world led or dominated by China or Russia is not a world I want to live in.

No nation has friends only interests.

Charles de Gaulle

From Lord Palmerston, (2 times Prime Minister): “England has no eternal friends, England has no perpetual enemies, England has only eternal and perpetual interests”.

When politicians spout about countries, they do not mean the people. Most people don't care and just want to live and get on with life. Most people are sick of politicians and their eternal self interests. Countries don't have freinds. People have friends.

But the Chinese have one advantage over America. They are more skilled at killing unarmed civilians, Buddhist monks, and political dissidents. Lets see how they fair against real soldiers with real guns that shoot back.

I would think pretty damn good as their brainwashing may be superior to US soldiers, but does it matter will ground war be the method of conflict?

Destruction from the air is the choice nowadays.

US happy to be a friend to a gov that restricts freedoms, has a general for PM with a democratic process that is fake !  Matches part of its own country!

This is what they teach in UK schools, everything was invented in the UK.

Of course it is wholly false.

"Rocket-powered jet aircraft were pioneered in Germany. The first aircraft to fly under rocket power was the Lippisch Ente, in 1928. The next year, in 1929, the Opel RAK.1 became the first purpose-built rocket plane to fly.

The first turbojet aircraft to fly was the Heinkel He 178 V1 first prototype of the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, on August 27, 1939 in Rostock (Germany)."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_aircraft#History

In fact Frank Whittle's jetplane was the third one, after an Italian jetplane that was recognised second, after the Heinkel 178.

If Frank Whittle invented the jetplane, perhaps you'd like to explain why the Heinkel He178 V1 was the first turbojet aircraft to fly?

What does the US do for Thailand? What did it do for the Thai people when the last coup was staged? Or the coup before that? Absolutely nothing. All America wants is bases, bases, and more bases, like the Viet Nam war. They want U Tapao because of the long runway for bombers.

Thailand should prepare to cut ties to the US and enhance ties with China who supply lots of tourist money.

China supplies Tourists, much of the tourist money goes back to the Chinese economy, China also supplies Thailand and the rest of the world with many viruses and filth

"In 1928, RAF College Cranwell cadet Frank Whittle formally submitted his ideas for a turbojet to his superiors.[10] In October 1929, he developed his ideas further.[11] On 16 January 1930, in England, Whittle submitted his first patent (granted in 1932).[12] The patent showed a two-stage axial compressor feeding a single-sided centrifugal compressor."

"Sir Frank Whittle, (born June 1, 1907, Coventry, Warwickshire, England—died August 8, 1996, Columbia, Maryland, U.S.), English aviation engineer and pilot who invented the jet engine."

Not exactly.  Britain did a lot early work on the turbo-jet. The first patent was filed by Frenchman Maxime Guillaume.[8] for an axial-flow turbojet in 1921. Whittle, who started work in 1929 patented his design in 1930.

The Germans stole the idea from Britain and patented their own designs in 1935 claiming wrongly they had not seen British patents. The Germans then built the first fighter jets and even a jet bomber used in the war.  After the war, the allies captured Germany jet technology that helped US and Russians develop their own turbo jet fighters.

In 1950 Britain asked the US to manufacture the Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire engine which would be built in the US as the J65 under license.

You have only the French and Germans to blame.

The Brits invented things but didn't have the wherewithal to develop it. How sad.

This stuff about the origin of the jet engine is fascinating, but back to topic eh!

We know who rules Thailand, and unless we are utterly naive we know that superpowers do business abroad by buying influence. (In the US I'm not sure of the going rate for a senator is, but big Pharma, the arms industry, or AIPAC could surely tell us).

Personally I wouldn't trust either of them. The US used the golden triangle to smuggle out opium which (When converted to heroin) helped fund the Vietnam war, then turned Pataya into the "R&R" capital of SEAsia - sleezy or what.  The Chinese - the horrible Han anyway - are on a global expansion march. How many dollars or Ren Min B are already stuffed into general's/ "Politicians" pockets, a small fortune is my guess.

Interesting to see that if you add investments from Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan together, they are roughly equal to the Chinese investments.

Despite being a GOP placeperson the ambassador actually speaks coherently, and often wisely, not much foot in mouth stuff like his leader. Credit is due, he's obviously not stupid.

US needs friends right now, it's in tatters emotionally, financially, sociologically, and mentally
