Have you seen the way the Chinese behave at the "all you can eat" buffets?

It is going to be way toooo much to see thousands upon thousands of Chinese running amok. It looks more and more and more that if war breaks out, Thailand will be kissing the side of their Chinese Master's obedient ring.

Better to have exit plan then. Its getting ugly really fast when pro-China mob comes out in Thailand. The same way Aussies have seen it here and there. Honestly saying I am surprised how calm guys are there. Try it here and it's going to be totally opposite reaction by working class and young generation, no understanding and calmness at all. That's why extreme parties are becoming stronger every year, unfortunately. Being in China long time and like people, most of time, but latest stuff from the government is beyond my values and what I can accept. Hope that things go fine and there is chance to visit Thailand soon, but expectations are not high.

He is dreaming. I suspect the airport will open. Posssibly some foreign nationals will be allowed to travel by their Governments, not many Aussies for instance, a few may be able to get compassionate exemptions. Are Chinese allowed to travel yet, I somehow doubt it. Their international flights are said to be limited til October. So what flights there are to Thailand from all over will be less than half full, many will be cancelled. They will not have sorted out any alternative to the Catch 22 requirements of Covid certificate and unobtainable insurance. Certainly haven't given any indication to this point anyway. Once they realise that no one is coming maybe something might change. The other alternative is that they know all this and will just open the airport for dribs and drabs waiting for international developments such as pre flight testing. No tourist is going to come to be quarantined so until that changes no tourists.

The only countries in eastern Asia with no virus cases for the last month are Taiwan and Vietnam. Vietnam has little interest in opening its airports to Thai tourists.

You are living in the past. 80% of the Chinese tourists in Chiang Mai are individual travelers and they spend more money per person/day than westerners. The sellers at the markets, the restaurant and hotel owners (Thais and farangs) are missing them a lot. More than Cheap Charlie westerners.

Never mind the Chinese think of your own people, July is way too early as it is still not safe to fully open the country from the inside or so we are informed by the government, therefore how is it possible to be ready to take on tourists from outside the country within four weeks.....????

Are you still in fear of the panicdemic? 555

Bats and pangolin are top of the list.

Look at the fools in Europe and the US. It is a mess...many people are just selfish and reckless. They even don't want to wear a mask to protect others. I am very disappointed about my own compatriots and all the other western countries. Asia will become the strongest region of the world in future. Good night US..good night Europe.

You're talking absolute RUBBISH.

By the way, nobody knows or will ever know the extent of Covid 19 infections in Thailand.

You’ve hit the nail on the head: valid travel insurance with covid19 cover -> unobtainium

This guy is effectively the chief travel agent talking his own book. Of course he wants an open door for international tourists, it’s his job to promote tourism. The other side of the coin is public health and the covid risk of international arrivals.

So far, the government has erred on the side of caution and eased restrictions gradually. There doesn’t see to be any change to that position. Hence domestic restrictions are still fairly severe. So while airports might reopen, it seems it will be accompanied with requirements for quarantine, covid certs, health insurance etc. I suspect the government is hoping that by being restrictive now, next high season can be saved to some extent.

all very sensible to me.

"The country could get an edge versus other countries in the world that were not ready for tourism."

Edge like a straight razor at your own throat. Yeah, undo measures that helped keep numbers low here.

Only accept tourists coming from countries that won't let them back in without quarantine.

Idea of medical certificates is absurd. Think of cottage industries of forged documents like old days on KS Road.

I foresee hordes of ballroom dancers flocking to Pattaya, where they can freely hold eachother and dance to their hearts content, while the open air places along the beach that serve beer and food remain ordered shut. Where is the logic ?

Honestly I am not against a skirmish.

That's great! take it you will be planning on being on the front line,"skirmishing" with the rest of the cannon fodder while those that instigated the "skirmish" will be safely hidden away safe in the knowledge they will not be part of the "collateral" damage?

most countries are still busy trying to tackle COVID19 and they will be in mood to rush into international tourism. better go slow and cautiously.

Those tourist businesses are in state of hysteria at the moment denying the obvious. Give them more time and they will stop eventually deluding themselves and others. No international tourism in 2020. Period.

My son works for Bentley U.K. in a management role the majority of customers are the Chinese and the Middle East he returned to work 10 days ago the orders have dried up especially the Chinese if the super wealthy aren’t buying in China that must say something the average Bentley continental costs around £185,000 however the Chinese love all the singing and dancing extras so you could add another 25/35 k on top. I would be very surprised if Thailand managed to get even 50% of the Chinese tourists they are hoping for this virus is going to have a devastating effect on all types of business around the world and I think the Chinese are going to be hit the hardest as the finger is pointing at them . Maybe the order book for second hand submarines from the Thai government will be suspended

That is if you believe the infection rates in China... The CCP is notorious for being economical with the truth.

Same here. The only difference is that we somewhat report a bit more.

But it's recomforting to hear zero cases i guess, even though it does not reflect reality, as we all know.

Greece is opening to tourists soon. Chinese welcome - British, German, Spanish, French, Italian - no.

which ones ?? can he provide a detailed list whom has it under control (not China,S Korea or Japan with some new cases) maybe Taiwan but that would not help much

Since you have no say in this I don’t think he will be providing you with any lists.

We all know? What do you know? You are just writing fake news. Maybe you are assuming that but in reality you know nothing.

I am living here in Thailand and I believe that the situation here is safe because I can see the daily life. The hospitals here are not overwhelmed from Covid and the Thai people are following the rules.
