My girlfriend open a bank account at Krungthai in April 2019 for me where my girlfriend purchased a Pearl Debit Card (699 baht annually). I told her she got the wrong card and I want a Classic Debit Card (200 baht annually) where they wouldn't swap the card so I thought we would just use 2 card for the next year then deactivate the Pearl DC. We aren't in Thailand this year where they said to come to the bank to deactivate the Pearl Debit Card (stupid that we can't do it on the phone). I don't want the Pearl Debit Card where I left 500 baht in the bank account this year so they would take out 200 baht for the Classic Debit Card and hopefully deactivate the Pearl Debit Card. It's now June and they haven't taken any money out and I can still use the Classic Debit Card (I used it today). I'm wondering what Krungthai is doing cause I thought they would charge me an annual fee and hasn't sent me an email saying they can't take money out for the Pearl Debit Card.

Is there anyway to avoid this? Anyway to cancel the card while being overseas?

Thanks! I called up and they said the Pearl is automatically cancelled if you don't pay it yearly cause it has insurance. They won't try to take out the 699 baht for it.

The normal Debit Card will be deducted next month for 200 baht. I don't know why they take 1 year and 2 months to take payment out. I thought annually is 12 months...

Problem solved.

Call the bank and report the card as lost. The bank will cancel it immediately.
