Just got Sons Auss Citizenship

Even though I did it online in Auss (stating that son was in Thailand ) it came via email signed from Bangkok

Wife should have extract in 7 - 10 days

So now for Passport

Congratulations.

I think your situation is different to mine, e.g. my wife has two sons from a previous relationship, some 16 years ago, the boys were born here. We have two girls born in Australia, my wife also obtained Australian citizenship in 2014.

As mentioned the boys are 16 and are looking to return to Australia with us in Nov/Dec, and when their visas are approved, they will be provided with permanent residency status as soon as they touch down.

You were correct as was PhanomR about being able to get documents certified here on the same list as in Australia, as long as they are Thai citizens, are on that list and are not related, so we are meeting up with a policeman on Monday to get him to sign 53 documents, we have already filled them in with his details as per the requirements of Home Affairs, all he has to do is sign them.

Did you know once your boy touches down you can start claiming Family A & B payments, including rental assistance from Centrelink ?

You will have issues getting to Australia in the first place

As he is now an Australian citizen he can't be issued with a visa to enter Australia and as he doesn't have an Australian passport the airline will refuse to allow him to board as he has neither, the APP will reject him.

He will need up lift approval from BOC to get around this.

Am working on the passport & will do in Auss

The story

Submitted 2 Visitor Visa apps on Feb 24 (online ) & Medicals/ Bios were done

Still in limbo

The thought now

Do all for son & get him Repatriated as a Citz

Since child & having to spend 14 days in quarantine Apply for wife on compassionate grounds to join him

I,m sure I may have to seek an Agents advice on the best route

Looking at Myegos timing (november )

As I said, your son won't (shouldn't) be issued a Visa to Australia. So you will face the issue of the Airline not allowing him to board as APP checks Travel documents/passport information not citizenship.

Your best bet would to get him an Australian Passport in Thailand via the embassy, it's pretty straightforward and easy if both parents agree. see the link below.

Just beware to apply for an Australia passport for a child not in Australia you need extenuating circumstances as to why the child can't get it in Thailand and approval from DFAT.

Good luck with the above mate, rock and a hard place.

I would suggest you take PhanomR's advice and lodge for his passport within Thailand, he is here and it will be easier, once issued the airlines will allow him to board, the hard part as you know is to get the Thai wife who doesn't have an Australian Passport to board as my understanding is Australia isn't letting anyone outside of being an Australian citizen or resident in, compassionate grounds, well, unless the child needs special treatment or something like that, can't see it happening and airlines won't let him travel by himself if he is under a certain age, as I said, rock and a hard place.

You might want to look at hauling a$$ back here to sort it all, then again, you will be the one being quarantined and paying the additional costs, bloody hell.....

Best of luck with it all as I hope it works out in the end with minimal hassle to all concerned.

Hello again

Trying to get my head around the Auss passport issue

*I think I may (actually wife ) have to do in Thailand

NAATI translations run at $80 a sheet here & if need Certification would then have to send to DFAT & then Thai embassy - Had to do this for wifes Power of Attorney

*BUT it is a different form PC8 - you think I could get from Auss post office (have to check ?

*I sent form from Thai Consulate last year allowing for approval of thai passport renewal for son (hope this may be ok if cant sign form )

*MFA ? Already have Marriage Cert done, Im thinking just need Son birth cert/ Name change marriage/ wife & son ID (to prove address )

I am presuming have to do in person ?

Will have to get the Translator to help guide wife

Any thoughts towards this process

I have already told you that you will, its not a choice you get to make.

It doesn't need authentication and it's got zero to do with the Thai Embassy.

You can fill the form out online and then print it off to sign and send.

No you can't use that form it won't be accepted and is meaningless in regards to getting an Australian passport.

Have you read the PDF I kindly linked in my post above as it details what you need to do.

You or your wife, your son doesn't need to attend if under 16.

Read the information I have already provided to you, read and follow the instructions provided and stop trying to game the process. I have already told you the easiest and cheapest way to do it.
