The 10 men who beat up a Workpoint TV reporter and a couple who tried to help him on Thursday (June 11) evening surrendered to police on Friday.

The incident took place in Samut Prakan at 8am on Thursday, when a group of men approached journalist Bandit Chawala and attacked him because they believed he was reporting about them. A man and a woman nearby tried to stop the attackers and also ended getting beaten up.

Charchan Udomphon, one of the attackers, said he and his accomplices wanted to apologise because they were very drunk when the attack happened. He said they were also ready to cover the cost of treatment.

Meanwhile, the victims have said they want to take legal action against the attackers because the reporter sustained 18 stitches, the man eight stitches and the woman was badly bruised.

Samrong Nua police are collecting evidence before taking the case to the public prosecutor. The 10 men have initially been charged with physical assault and may face additional charges if doctors confirm the wounds are severe.

Teach thai drunk males manners?....

Drunkenness seems to be the excuse in a lot of attacks and the police accept that drunks are not responsible for their actions. This attitude neglects the fact those that get drunk do so willingly and during this Covid 19 era gatherings of drunks is illegal.

Nationality has no bearing on the behavior of drunken thugs, nor of common sense by those that comment about them.

Manners maketh the Man....

There are some drunks from other countries here that are just as bad if not more so.

As for me, I'm a happy drunk.

I get plastered and fall asleep.

Strange story.

10 out of control drunk men attack a reporter and a helping couple.

Then  as a group they trod off to the  constable  headquarters to turn themselves in.

Odd.

In Fleet Street it would read Drunks beat up Drunk reporters. Read Private Eye.

They will probably use the "I was drunk"" as an excuse at their trial.

scum ...   good to read that the victims are going after them as much as they can.

Apology not accepted ....    lol

If the seafood restaurant that scammed customers with invalid vouchers can get 700 plus years, these thugs should not get less than that...that will set an example for others not to resort to physical violence.

Khap, Kha, Khap Phohm, Kha Phohm,

Na Kha,

And a multitudes of 'Wai',

Geez, what would be happening in Thailand in the absence of all these respect driven words and gestures?

Worse,.... or better. Makes me wonder....
