We are in Florida, and when we go out we are some of the few people wearing face masks. We went to the farmers market and we were the only ones who wore face masks !!! No exaggeration , if we go again I will take a picture, we were the only ones wearing a face mask.!!! everyone was handling the produce, picking the best and putting the others back , after touching it and breathing their germs on it. . . Riots in the streets, wait a couple of weeks until the numbers from that come back. No keeping any distance, nothing!!!  These people are not going to all of the sudden gain intelligence, or concern for others

I am afraid we will have to have the second wave. The Stock market realize it will happen. Dow lost over 6% last week, then gained about 1.6% (on bargain hunting)  7 am here, market opens 9:30 am I am watching futures  and DOW futures are 2.5% down an early indication where the market will go IMO, I will be surprised if the market does not lose another 2% today (I hope I am wrong)

The US is in the grip of insanity. We have a president that from his actions tells people not to wear masks, and to look into Lysol!!  Clears the streets with the military so that he can go in front of a church and hold a Bible , high!!  so that we can all see what a good fearing man he is.

INSANITY!!!

Democrats are no better either, fanning the flames of insanity to increase their chances of regaining power. On one hand  they tell as to stay home to save lives, on the other to go out and protest to save lives. Black Lives Mater, only if taken by rogue police. But don't seem to matter very much if Covid 19 takes them.

INSANITY!!!

When this thing happened I did not want to come to Thailand in fear that we might be trapped there. A correct assumption at the time..  Now I wish I had been trapped there.

My house sits empty and I am reduced to watching it from the WiFi security video cameras. Our dogs sleep outside our front door waiting for us to come back:crying:. Thank god we have someone to take care of them, and watch the house.

We are in Flagler county. My wife works in a nail spa . We take every preclusion , Face shields, masks gloves, hand sanitizer. When she comes home she leaves her clothes in the Garage  and goes straight to the shower. What can she do? since everyone else has opened for business,  she has to go or lose her costumers to others. And they are busy , very busy. people don't seem to be taking this thing seriously . I wish we were there , I tell her we don't need the money, but you know how Thais and Money are.

Sure! I can, I told you before when you said it was a pending disaster in a previous post that a reasonable person would see the advice he was getting from fauci was what assured many Americans that The POTUS was listening  to fauci all the time.

He reference a pandemic in relation to over a hundred countries have felt the spread . To the downplaying ,he was being told by fauci the virus wasn't a major threat  to the US at the time.

The precaution he took was to restrict Chinese from coming to my country.

It was reported by fauci that the POTUS always listens to his advise!

You sure about that?

Coronavirus: Trump says Dr Fauci's warning 'not acceptable'

US President Donald Trump has said a sobering warning by his top infectious diseases expert about lifting pandemic restrictions too soon was unacceptable.

He accused Dr Anthony Fauci of wanting "to play all sides of the equation" in his testimony to lawmakers on Tuesday.

The president said he was especially dissatisfied with Dr Fauci's caution around reopening schools too quickly.

But supporting, promoting, giving space to, and astroturfing mass protests and gatherings in direct contradiction of state stay-at-home orders by the left is completely fine?

Wrong. There is an increasing number of people from these states in the hospitals. Resources are beginning to be stretched. What does that have to do with testing?

What has that got to do with an increasing number of patients in hospitals being treated for Covid?

Petty straw men aside, why does it bother you so badly that Trump wants to have a rally after 2 WEEKS of straight mass gatherings, riots, looting, and everything else under the sun that everyone on the left supported and promoted?

Its nauseating hypocrisy.

Because this is something as a leader he could actually avoid but he refuses to. He himself could stop this and instead, because the only thing he truly cares about is power, division and being re-elected he will openly put people in harms way just so he can get his dose of MAGA adulation. And he knows it is messed up because he is making all of his sheep sign waivers so he wont be sued when he knows that they will be getting sick. He will be directly responsible for people going to the ICU at the very least and he does not give a flip other than not getting sued. He is the absolute worst kind of leader because he puts his own needs and wants ahead of the people that he serves and those that support him. Are the people that are going to show up doing of their own free will? Sure they are...but will one person choose to vote for him in November because of this event that he just absolutely has to have? Of course not...and the ironic thing about that is if he chose at the last minute NOT to have this hot mess of an infection party, he actually might sway some people that would see something smart and sensible about him they have never seen before and give him their vote.

Honestly, have you EVER seen a MAGA say "By gosh, you're right. He DOES lie!" ???

I've started sending them to the Phantom Zone of ignore list. They're a waste of time. It still boggles the mind how anyone can follow such a lying, deceitful idiot, they're all running willfully into a dictatorship. At least Ann Coulter has the honesty, the decency, to tell the truth and call Trump an out and out a liar.

Exactly.

It's a total waste of time engaging with 45 cult of personality members. May as well be talking to programmed robots. It's not about ideology. It's about worship of dear leader.

I'm also in Florida (I'd planned on returning to Thailand in March, but...).

Now that every major health organization has endorsed wearing masks, more people than ever are going out without masks.  Since the state is opening up, people are recklessly assuming everything is normal again.  It's a classic case of people ignoring facts and choosing what reality they think they can live in.

Staying home while the infections are still increasing does not keep you safe.  Social distancing, masks, and restrictions on businesses in which social distancing is not possible or profitable keeps people safer.

Those in assisted living facilities with group dining areas can't just stay home by themselves; everybody in the facility (including the staff) must stay at the facility and accept no visitors.  People with school age children must choose between putting their families at risk or letting their children get an education.  Healthcare workers who put themselves at risk with every infected patient they deal with will be dealing with more infected people.

The problem with people playing Russian roulette with an infectious disease is that they are pointing the weapon at everyone.

Americans will be the most radioactive people on the planet for at least the next year or two, due to the massive failure to deal with Covid. Trump failure #3. Yes. Unfortunately the virus won. America surrendered. How can Americans maintain the delusion of exceptionalism when faced with the reality of how bad we've done compared to most other nations?

Missed something out.............this idiot "stable genius" then advocated the use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine when there was no clear evidence that it worked, apart from some non-peer reviewed papers on its use.

Now this: "The Food and Drug Administration has just revoked its emergency authorization for two malaria drugs — chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine — to treat Covid-19 in hospitalized patients".

Maybe his inability to drink a glass of water or walk down a gently sloping ramp is a result of taking the drug, or perhaps senility or even dementia!!!

He was warned by the outgoing Obama administration that there WOULD BE a pandemic in the next two years or so. He was warned by several intelligence agencies, that it was coming. He was responsible for dismantling the pandemic division of the NSA. Although he banned Chinese nationals from coming into the US in early February, he continued to allow Chinese with green cards and Americans coming in from Wuhan, to arrive daily, without any health checks whatsoever. How much more responsible could this man possibly be, for the massive spread of Covid in the US?

Only a percentage of Americans, who do very little traveling outside of the US, cling to this notion of some sort of superiority. The entire world sees America as something entirely different. And for those who still thought the US was a shining beacon on the hill, or a great nation, Trump and Covid have eliminated whatever prestige the US one had.

That has not been my experience. I think most Americans regard the USA as a superior country. No doubt that notion has been significantly diminished during these horrific years of the 45 administration.

Small percentage or most Americans, the fact of the matter is that the US has been sliding down in both perception and actual standing in the world. Right after WW II the US experienced the greatest growth and the most wonderful economic experiment in the world. Taxes were just, unions were strong, EVERYBODY was a winner. Then corporate greed/political corruption invaded and have essentially broken the back of what WAS the greatest country in the world. I'm not sure the US can bounce back, certainly not to the level it was until this government is essentially flushed and replaced with more honest members. History books are full of stories about empires that thought they'd last forever.

Let me put it this way. I am the opposite of anti American. I know we can be much better though. I think self perception is critical. If significant numbers of Americans think and I think that they do that the USA is the greatest then it is much harder to garner the political will to effect needed great changes.

He claimed the ramp was very steep and slippery. Steep huh? It hadn't rained.

Actually, I think the drinking glass episode was even worse. He couldn't raise a glass of water to his mouth with his right arm. He needed his left arm's assist to get it all the way up. In November he had an unscheduled medical exam. The White House claimed it was routine. Sure, an unscheduled, yet routine examination. That makes sense  He did get a full exam in June. But they didn't release the details that are usually released when the results are announced.

Maybe he had a mini-stroke in November?

I look at it this way.

We have two very old men running against each other.

Among many other issues it is legitimate to consider the health issues of both of them.

As a political issue the 45 brigade thought they had the edge with that.

Now they don't.

Likely the frail old man issue is going to be neutralized now.

In 1988 Biden had two brain surgeries with a strong likelihood of long term damage. Of COURSE the doctor who performed them claims Biden is fine, but we will never really know. What I DO know is when I see Biden, I see a man with little energy, a man who has trouble staying on track, a man who appears not to be firing on all cylinders. My greatest fear is the DNC did it again and this will be 2016 version 2.0

I disagree. Remember that infamous interview he had with Charlamagne the God where he reproached him as a black man for not being sure if he was going to vote for Biden? That drew a lot of attention. Biden has always been prone to making gaffes. But here's a transcript of the interview. Biden was sharp and on target even when explaining the complicated history of some legislation. When has Trump ever show the ability to master details?

Very true ........ So in his mind he does not 'lie'.

To me its just like all the accidents here - reported as break failure ... Which I also 'think' is absolutely 'true'.

Brakes are for stopping a vehicle.. So irrelevant how I drive. I believe that the brakes will stop the vehicle - when they do not (because I was driving at 130kph in the rain). Clearly the brakes failed to stop me ... when I applied the brakes. Hence my brakes failed ????. Its Trump logic ... He does not lie. If he believe he will do all the thing he say he will do .....

I watched that whole thing. I've also watched him on Stephen Colbert, and some of his virtual rallies. He started fading fast at the end of the Colbert interview, and one of his rallies he started to wander around the room.  Now understand, NO ONE dislikes Trump more than I do, but the only reason Biden has a better than 50% chance of winning is because Trump is just that much worse. Again (quoting South Park) it's a choice between a douche and a turd sandwich. KILLS me that this is the choice of the DNC, and make no mistake, this is NOT a democratic process. The DNC chooses the candidate.

How exactly did the DNC manage that? What Macchiavellian plans did they devise? The evidence shows that once it looked like Bernie almost had a lock on the nomination, Democrats weighed who had a better chance to beat Trump: Sanders or Biden? They chose Biden. And the evidence also shows that Republicans were disappointed in that choice. They were longing to mix it up with the "socialist" Sanders.

It's been a while, I need to save this so I don't have to retype again and again. Heavy sigh . . .

I was one of the original litigants to the 2016 DNC lawsuit about screwing Bernie in the primaries. The DNC's PRIMARY DEFENSE was they are NOT a government entity, they are more like a bridge club. As such, they make their own rules and choose whoever they want. Do some digging for details, they're there. If you think it's a democratic process - well, the red pill or the blue pill. One keeps you blissfully ignorant, the other exposes the corruption.
