Your use of yesterdays headline to underline that it was only 44 cases in a market of 4000 people is much appreciated,

I see it's up to 100 now, how many 1000's will it be in a couple of weeks time?

And the screw continues to be turned by the xenophobe in chief.....

He has a valid point. Why allow people to enter from known contagion hot spots?

Russia, USA, Brazil have mismanaged their pandemic. New Zealand, Denmark, Norway Taiwan  have  managed well. Do you  believe that intelligent people from Denmark or Norway wished to be exposed to infected people?  The infection in Canada was brought back by travelers who had  visited the  USA, Caribbean and EU. That is why the  travel corridor to those regions remains closed today.  Thailand is going to do what Canada did and what other  countries will soon do: Exercise prudence.  If BoJo, Putin, Bolisaro, Trump et al, wish to mismanage  the infection, up to them, but the rest of the world should not have to suffer.

Fave refrain of night club bouncers

" your not on the list .. You're not coming in " ..

It seems to me they are putting all the chips on countries from the east two of whom have both had recent spikes in new cases .. the most recent in China ..

What else is convincing the minister that droves from the countries considered " lucky " enough to find their way onto the " admission " list will be queueing to jump on a plane .. factor in airliners might end up carrying considerably less passengers the shortfall in revenue ultimately being taken up by those who do fly .. And China as is Thailand exhorting its citizens to holiday within their own country .. This has potential to go spectacularly wrong if it fails to provide what they are undoubtedly hoping for out of it ..

Think it will go spectacularly wrong at 38baht=£1 you,'re paying London pub prices, and 60 sobs for a Bar girl for the night? Come on.

But Denmark and other "well-managed" countries are part of the EU.

Maybe so, but he's just doing what 3/4 of the Thai population wants...

was  that a  whole  1000 people survey? how  about the other 60+  million?

You need to read up on surveys and uncertainty.  In order to be 99% certain that you're within 25% of the right answer, you only need to survey 27 random people in a population of 60,000,000.

Don't believe me?  Enter your own numbers...

https://www.surveymonkey.com/mp/sample-size-calculator/

It would be one thing if the survey said 52%, but when it says 75%, you'd have to be surveying people right outside the Thai equivalent of a Young Republicans pep rally to get it that far off.

You can be 99% sure that you're within 4% of the correct answer if you survey 1000 random people in a population of 60 million.  Meaning it's a safe bet that between 70-80% of Thais would prefer to keep foreigners out for the time being.

So what country a person come from is the main criteria, never mind looking at the individual person and their details.

Love to see another country spring such <deleted> on this ignorant lunch without distancing fool.

China, wasn't they the ones that started the whole thing? where they the ones that continued to cover up their real numbers? second wave you say, but they have been so transparent and open throughout so surely they should be top of the list...

Sarcasm alert for the hard of thinking..

Not really. The virus first emerged in China. It wasn’t “started” in the way you seem to imply in terms of being deliberate.

additionally, although there was confusion and misreporting of cases at the beginning, probably due to the Chinese authorities not yet knowing what they were dealing with, although also possibly due To wanting to downplay numbers, there is nothing to suggest that the Chinese have continued to deliberately under report. The latest Beijing cluster indicating both transparency and immediate action. So if there is a second wave, the Chinese seem ready willing and able to take effective strong action......trampling over civil liberties as they do so, but effective and strong nevertheless.

Anutin must be laughing at all the comments. Seriously. This guy is a powerhouse in this Admin and calls the shots. We are guests here. If you don’t feel welcome, why stay? Not taking up for him or anyone, but he’s well within his rights to “ choose”, same as other countries are doing.
